at some delivery points drivers use to have to unload their loads" hands on "now they have crews that do it an drivers don't touch any thing and keep their distance
if the truckies have to isolate things will soon grind to a halt unless they can organise some safe way to do change overs at the boarders
Change overs might work for big companies like Tolls etc (unless the unions decide otherwise),but I think that owner-drivers and small companies will struggle to cope, simply because of a lack of relief drivers, and the logistics involved.....think travel, accomodation, organising backloads etc etc. Gave up driving B-Doubles interstate some time ago.....too many hours for too little pay,and dozens of stupid rules made by people who have no understanding of the industry. The point to point cameras were the final straw......half the fun was covering up the illegal driving hours I worked! I will not elaborate, for fear of getting lectured by those with no such experience and no idea of what a truckie has to deal with. There seems to be a number of forum members with years of trucking experience, and I'm sure they all will have their own stories and experiences.....28 hours straight? Enough.Cheers

28 hrs where you on short shifts
change overs have been done for years but if you throw borders in makes it harder
BW thanks for the entertainment, I am in lockdown at home so nothing much different from any other week except the managing director is checking up on me hourly. You did well to find that video of me welding.... would have liked to see the shot of his mate or Mrs cutting him out.
NT border is shut but trucks can get thru unload reload and head home to WA I understand.

Not much movement in town today . 2 way very quiet . Hope we keep our good record , no COVY . People will be very happy about the lakes filling . Don't know if they will be able to get down there as we seem to be in self lockdown .
9:09 PM Hey Dogbox , I was just talking to a truckie on the 2 way , he said there were two of your kind guarding SA boarder . He said" ahh there's just a couple of Dogboxes pulling up all the cars down there, that's all. Have a good one"

Although I have not heard of the police being referred to as the "Dog Squad",many years ago Paddy Wagons were referred to as "Dog Boxes". Weights Inspectors were sometimes known as "Mermaids",and a motorbike cop was "Evel Knieval". (Spelling?) Cheers

The Latest from SA you must be an essential traveller. To enter and to transit anywhere in the state of South Australia . You will be pulled up and asked if you are an essential traveller.
Stopping the kids from congregating . Someone commented on Council site . I don't think you need to discourage anybody to do any thing , have u seen this town? (not only no kids no anybody)
It's happened yet again, another one bites the dust. Brian (BW) contacted me to say he has deleted himself from the forum. I did contact him back and tried to talk him out of it, as he found something in the forum that kept him occupied, with no luck.
Keep Safe BW.
