Hi bqt,
It was explained tonight that Tweed Heads Coolangatta would remain open (like other small towns on other closed borders) as people may live in one town, work or buy in the other.
The border closure was designed to stop people from places like Sydney, Melbourne from accessing areas such as the Whitsundays for Easter, etc.
Bob Katter wants to isolate Central Qld from the south by closing a line from Marlborough across to Boulia. This would be difficult with the high number of roads involved.

If you don't get it done today, there's always tomorrow!
I'm due to take the bus to Queensland for rego inspection in a few weeks so maybe that will be interesting unless border towns like Texas are exempt from the closure.
14 days at the free campsite there would be OK as long as they don't go silly like Tasmania and ban people from quarantining in their motorhomes.
Maybe have to drive it to the border, get out and let the mechanic take it from there, do the inspection and bring it back

Good old Bob never misses an opportunity does he.
I suspect that he views this as an opportunity for FNQ to succeed from Qld. permanently. He's been banging on about that for years.
Premier Bob Katter & Family of FarNorthQld. has a lovely ring to it ... hey.
No that won't work. How about 'King Bob of God's Country' ... hey.
I wander if they can REALLY do this . From
Memory in constitution free travel between states is fed Law . Im
Sure fed law over rides state laws . If theres conflict ? Just putting it out there ?

i was under the impression you could have your inspection done out of state and the paper work forwarded to relevant authorities i think there was a thread about it a fair while ago
WE are on our way to Queensland, by whatever border crossing we manage to take, Not running from the officials, prepared to self isolate if we have to, wherever we have to. We have been self isolated anyway, since leaving Mt Ive station, so what is another two weeks of being stuck in the van together.

Hi Cupie,
Along with many doctors around the Townsville area, I'm in favour of shutting the gates that our friend Bob K wants to close.
All of the cases here thankfully only five, have come via people from the SE Corner & holiday makers from overseas.
One a FIFO worker lived in Brisbane but showed his address as Townsville.
The rules are simple - Stay at home, wash often & stay heathy!

Hi Warren
Yes, there seems to be a swell of support for isolating various sections of our community. Like States, perhaps regions as in WA, First Nation Remote communities, even many western Local Govt areas in Qld and lots of country towns who are making public statements warning travellers off, and on and on it goes.
I agree with your footnote 'rule' & have been doing just that for the last few weeks.
However that doesn't change my view of Bob Katter's Political motivation and long term strategy behind his statement.
It would be great if our Pollies could put away their ulterior motives & for once work for the common good of our nation. Bye & large this seems to have been happening so far but I do detect some cracks appearing.
