With the different borders being closed are you still permitted to travel around your own state or does that come under unnecessary travel that means a lot of money in vans and tugs sitting around doing nothing.
I was just speaking to my sister who is an ex-nurse who did quite a bit or nursing with people dying from lung issues. She said it is the most horrible death & people need to be taking this very seriously.

Thank you all for getting back to me what you have to say is very interesting I am 70yo and suffer from copd after working hard all my life and putting all my money into my travellin gear so I could enjoy what ever time one has left.
Of course I wont to do the right thing was just unsure of where I stood with the current rulings thank you all once again.
Every one has valid comments here, but still begs the question.
As a permanent grey nomad (with no home base), what is one supposed to do? We have been in South Aus since July 2019, and had planned to head to Brisbane to be with family while I had bi-lateral knee replacement. That will probably not happen now.
The SA border is to be closed to incoming (imposing self isolation for 14 days), but at this stage, we can return to NSW, and then QLD. But what are we supposed to do? with non essential travel - drive around in circles till it is all over? go into caravan parks until it is all over? inhabit freedom camps until it is all over?
We intend to try to stay under the radar as best we can, making sure we always have enough food (and toilet paper) till the next top up, fuel or dump point.
Not looking for an answer my our predicament, just generalising..... Any comments?

Been giving thought to how to get to the gem fields in central Queensland from Adelaide. Had suspected something like the current restrictions would come into force and we will probably see them tightened. We would be looking at stopping there a few months at least and have considered self imposed isolation. We could carry food but would require water, fuel and dump point access. We could drive through NSW over a couple of days and given mentioned access to water and dump at Sapphire would be in totally a suitable place at the gemfields. Beyond that 14days we would do our usual weekly shopping trip to Emerald. Biggest question is would we be allowed to transition NSW over the couple of days it would take or would we have to isolate twice, once in NSW and once in Q'land. Well aware that I could not get a definite answer here and the answer may well change over time, but just interested in anyone else's thoughts.
If this goes on for 6 months & let's say they close off areas of western NSW due to some areas with higher numbers of Aboriginal people with compromised health. One really needs to think very carefully where one would rather be stuck.
Can't believe I'm thinking like this, how quickly things have changed!

As per Tony Bevs post above, that type of unecessary travel is to be discouraged.
If you are at home or in a place with the necessary resources at hand then stay there, dont put extra pressure on other regional centres.
The PM is flagging even tougher measures if people refuse to obey the edicts re social distancing and non-essential travel.
Yes, it is harder for some if you live full time as a nomad. BUT you moving about is NOT essential travel.
You may be carrying the virus already and transfer it to remote places along the way, whose residents do not have adequate healthcare, and cannot leave town.
The message is that if you keep trying to move about you are being totally selfish - in a similar way to those people we saw shoving the old and frail aside in supermarkets.
STAY PUT WHERE YOU ARE!
Qld has now just closed its border with NSW This is going to be a nightmare as anyone entering Qld will need to self isolate for 14 days...what about Workers inter crossing the border from the TWEED to the GOLD COAST...SURELY NOT!!!
NSW/QLD Border. I am sure I heard today that only essential trucks and locals crossing border going to work on the other side only. Trucks keep going but workers will be issued with a sticker for car to have clearance. NO travellers (Holiday Makers). No 14 day Isolation anymore for that reason. Effective Midnight tomorrow (Wednesday).
NSW/VIC Border. Is still open at this stage so I am heading into VIC tomorrow. At least I will be in my Home State.

Hi Dougwe et all..... amidst the panic travel, bit like panic buying toilet paper, borders are NOT closing, just being controlled.
OK, so we are in South Australia, and we want/need to go to Qld. The SA border is "closed". That means there are controls in place if you are entering South Australia - mainly self isolation. - it is not that bad. This applies also to NT, and WA.
When we pass out of South Australia at Broken Hill in a couple of days (unless things change) we have no issues
A week or so later we will attempt to move back to our home state of Qld. Because we have a Qld address, licence, number plate, etc, we won't have any dramas returning to Qld, even tho we may have to self isolate for 2 weeks. according to Annastacia Palaszczuk notice.... Not so bad, cos that is what we do anyway
Message is, don't panic, don't stress, read between the lines. disregard the posts on f**ebook, etc, including this site. and reach out to the real sites, eg, the corona virus hotline or local police or border patrol.
Don't just rely on this site -
We are currently in Kimba, purposefully self isolating until we arrive back in Qld. Just diarising where we have been and who we have been in contact with
