Introduction and past, present, and future

Hi, my name is Ken and my wife's name is Virginia. We travel with one or two dogs, towing the English Caravan we brought back with us from the UK.

Last 2 adventures included Dromana Vic to Mandurah, WA and some of the Southwest of WA, from Kulin southward.

After we change the present vehicle (1998 Pajero LWB petrol) for a Ford Ranger diesel we are planning to head for Broome end of May 2020 to meet up with friends from QLD, then travel back this way exploring on the way.

Future plans open but may include more exploring of the South West, or heading East to check out the Eyre Peninsular

Getting the brakes and wheel bearings on the van serviced to help minimise risk. Installing fridge exhaust ventilation system and solar panels on roof of van.

Any suggestions about canopy, drawer systems, etc in terms of kitting out would be welcomed. I will be selling the Pajero if anyone has an interest.

Welcome.

As far as storage "systems" are concerned I reckon plastic tubs are -  "volume efficient" (considering available space in the back of a ute ), -  light (super important with any car/caravan set up) and also easy to handle  -  water and dust proof (bonus )  - and inexpensive (real important !)

Lids can be colour coded for different groups of "stuff" but also you can generally see through the sides to save opening tubs unnecessarily. In my "slide on " camper I built a light weight steel frame to enable the bottom tub (draw") to be slide out without disturbing  the tub on top.

Many "slide out " systems are heavy , expensive and inefficient at utilising valuable

Thank you for your input KB.
I am needing to solve for a Tub end ute, and so will need to go the fiberglass canopy way.
Your comments about the drawer system are noted.
One thing I am considering is using a line of water "jerry" tanks across the forward wall. Should give me about 110l of extra water without the flavor of flexible plastic bags.
I have a 41L fridge/freezer and a second battery (AGM) plus DC/DC converter. The converter also runs as a mppt controller for solar when I move that way.
Will need to fix those items in place - perhaps utilise a slide shelf for convenience.
