have a look at Caravan Council of Australia website www.caravancouncil.com.au/ where you can download for free many checklists and technical articles. There is an absolute mine of reliable information to be had with no bias from Manufacturers and Dealers.

You can register with the electoral commission to be an itinerant. Then there is no need to vote.
Some insurers have a problem with no fixed address, check yours.
For registration of the vehicle, you will need a garaging address and a postal address. They can be different. You may need to have a letter from the owner of the garaging address saying it is OK to use. It could be a friend or it could be a caravan park. State regulations vary. Pick one that does not have annual inspections for the vehicle.
Cheers,
Peter

Could I garage my motorhome in SA, use a NSW postal address, and then register the vehicle in SA? Or does the state of registration depend on the postal address?

 Yes.

I have a friend who has a SA postal address for some stuff, SA registration, SA garaging address and a NSW driver's license (which he used as ID for the SA registration. It has a NSW postal address). He does not own a house and lives in his MH.

Cheers,

Peter
