Make, model and age of awning may get some responses - Generally electric awnings are relatively trouble free if taken care of. Ensure you can wind it back in the event of power failure.

I would be most reluctant to buy something with an electric awning. It is a needless complication of a simple mechanical spring and ratchet which, if well made, should last a very long time. I am very doubtful an electric drive system which lives outside will have anything like the longevity and will, no doubt, cost a packet to fix when it breaks.

In design, simple is always good.
