Hello Can anyone recommend a good portable ice maker machine? The last one we had couldnt handle the heat.
Hi Gabby101
We just make ice in trays in the Engel on freeze mode and then store them in the caravan fridge freezer compartment.
The 3 way fridge is too slow to make ice cubes in its freezer and space is a premium. Storing ready made ice in there seems to help it in its duties as well.
If we see cubes of ice for sale in bags we will grab a bag provided it is made for human consumption. This is stated on the bag.
If it is a commercial quantity you need then I would buy it rather than try to run a commercial ice maker in a caravan camping situation. But having said that, nothing is impossible.
We have found those bar type ice makers to be useless if ambient temps are above about 28 deg c.
BTW Whenarewethere, your link did not work for me.
We just buy a bag of ice from the servo. A bag lasts for ages, we only use it for a couple of drinks in the evening. Same when we are travelling. $4 or $5 doesnt break the bank. I use genuine Scottish rocks for my Talisker Skye though. No ice to water down that goodness. Regards Pete
I put my drinking glass in fridge with a little filtered water . Freeze the whole glass, water . About 4 glasses keeps me going when hot and thirsty .,
