Best recommendation, 12v 24” smart TV.

Hi, given the multitude of TV brands, could the Forum recommend a 12v 24 smart TV based on previous experience, ie reliability, reception and usability.

Regards Wayne.

I changed over the Sphere that came with the van to an Aldi one. So far 15-months along the Aldi is still working perfectly.

(The old Sphere was working but not HD and was both Analog and Digital - every so often when changing channels it would slip into analog mode and I had to chase it back into digital mode. Most annoying.)

The price of an Aldi one was right as well when compared with the specialised ones at caravan shops.

Hi Wayne last  week we were staying on a friends property in Kotupna Victoria when the aerial  connection on our 19 Finch which had come with the van snapped off internally. I searched the internet and found that Betta Electrical in Kyabram had a CHIQ 12v 24 Led HDMI TV with built in DVD, Usb etc. for $340 so we drove the 50 odd kms down there and bought one. We couldnt be happier with both the quality of the picture even when its viewed from an angle and the big improvement in the sound compared to the previous one. Based on our experience the CHIQ maybe worth putting on your list of TVs to have a look at.

Cheers

BB

We've got a full hd 24" Kogan , does a good job and cost around $150 from memory ....... we run external powered speakers for movies etc , otherwise just use the TVs sound for news etc ( all small TVs have pretty crap sound due to size )
Also run a Apple TV 4K into it via hdmi for all online viewing :)

Cheers

We had to buy a replacement last year, we got an AKAI from Hardly Normals, price was very good, but like kesa we use a little boom box for most of our audio. Otherwise can't fault it.

Hi Wayne , we have 2 portable wireless modems , 1 Telstra and 1 optus , and just buy credit blocks as required that way we usually get reception in most areas if needed , we only run small plans on our phones data wise , so we use the vans wifi if needed
I put a whip antenna on the van for a bit more gain , but if l did it again l think ld rig up a small mimo antenna that can folded down and telescopic if needed ...... still can't complain , our setup coped most of the time :)

Forgot to mention , l run the Apple TV off our psw inverter as apparently they're sensitive to the input dc requirements, anyway no biggie as l tend to charge other stuff while running the inverter .... the tv runs fine off the vans dc supply

Cheers ken

RE:

Like sarge i bought an Akai from harvey norman. We were on the road when the Sattalite tv died so very few options. Very happy with it but have discovered i cant run it through the speaker system as there are no "audio out" sockets. Happy with sound anyway.
