Depends where you are - if you are in Brisbane area, have a look at the Silversun Neptune series - as well as supplying 'standard' vans, you can also negotiate additions/deletions to customise the van to your exact needs. If I sold my Aliner, this is what would replace it !

If you're talking used Avan, as in Aliner, not really suitable.
Aliner is 800 Tare / 1100ATM - full gas bottles and water tank takes 80kg out of the 300kg payload. A typical small aluminium tinnie, say 10 ft long will be around 40-60kg, add at least 5-8kg for 'ladder brackets' each end of the Aliner roof to carry the tinnie, there's another 70-75kg gone, only leaves 145kg for ALL of your food, clothing, etc. - it won't take much to chew up that remaining 145kg, and you'll be right on your 1100kg limit.
The Aliner has ALKO rubber torsion suspension, and it is only just up to the task for supporting 1100kg - the typical Avan tyres when inflated to hold 550kg per wheel are fairly high (around 32psi) and will give a bouncy ride - Avan themselves recommend 26psi, but my tyre dealer says to support 550kg per wheel, no way, that's a recipe for under-inflation/heat buildup and ultimately tire blowout. I ran the quoted 26psi for the first two years, and found my tires, even though they only traveled about 6325km all up were stuffed (started to de-laminate), tyre dealer said under-inflation and overheating killed them.
Some of the more expensive Avan 'Adventure +' series vans have tougher suspension, but still the same 300kg payload limit.
Better to put the tinnie on the roof of the tug !
