Caravan TV Antenna

Hi All

I am upgrading our TV antenna to a Directional antenna which I want to mount on top of the Caravan. Has anyone any suggestions? there appears to be many on the market ranging from around $50 to $300.I was looking at the GME AE 3000 Digital TV Antenna at $219  or the Milenco Digital at around $300.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards Alex

Hi,

Don't know what you mean by directional antenna but...

There are many sites around Australia that use Horizontal and Vertical polarity transmission for Free To Air (not satellite).

Some sites (like Longreach, Central QLD) use both for different channels.

So, Make sure you have an antenna that can receive both polarities (like the latest Winegard).

Just Google Winegard Antenna Sellers to get the info.

I have the new Winegard . Needed an amplifier , make sure its a 12v or DC.. Digital is very much line of sight . So depends on location . I use the FTA Sat system . Mainly due to camping in middle of nowhere !! Lol

We have a new Winegard multi directional fitted earlier this year about $500 all up by a caravan repair shop. Neat job.

To our surprise it Is still a bit hit and miss when travelling out western NSW, South Australia and then returning though Victoria to Queensland.

Saying that the old flat winegard was not very unreliable either but then my life is not geared around television.

I`m very disappointed with my Wineguard for the price.

My backup is a $50.00 Home Hardware antenna, comes with vertical and horizontal mounts. Works a treat. I attach it to an extendable paint roller pole, made a couple of mounts out of PVC tube then a few cable ties when tuned in.

All folds up neat and attached to drawbar for travelling.

Maybe this call help.

Regards.

Hetho.

We have a Satking Pro satellite dish, but, for the times we park under a tree and satellite is not available, we use one of these

and have found it always delivers the goods
