Rob... Secret... Could Be

Years ago I PM'ed a visiting interstate GN member about one of our good spots, they had such a good time that they put a glowing write up on GN and CF Forums, a couple of times since we have had trouble getting a camping spot at this location, not necessarily because of their publication.

Am now wary that my next secret spot could find its way to WikiCamps.

Hi Peter,

Yes I hear where you are coming from and your reasoning but the OP said he saw this place on a travel show so I assume the secret would be well and truly out there for everyone to see.

It may have been the place I saw recently which featured a place in the NT. but if it is a secret then who will really know.

Regards

Rob

c'mon guys,

The whole idea of this forum is to share ideas and thoughts re R.Ving.

We always recommend great and sometimes not so great camp spot in the

Free Campsites suggested by by our contributors

Our reasoning is that we visit camp sites recommended by other forumites and think it is only right to share.

Anyone with a different view and not willing to share info will never be welcome at our campfire.

That reply is a representative answer of a forum troll.

Just true to form from that guy.

Anyway if the OP is still with us and has not been put off, here are a couple of links that might prompt some real answers from good people.

I have visited both spots but not stayed in either for no other reason than I had made other plans.

In the NT

https://crabclawisland.com.au/

In Qld

https://www.barracrabcp.com.au/

This may help

Barracrab, van park is a nice spot to stop for a few days.  Wide Open Spaces to the South End of Park non Powered, Powered Sites near the bar and reception area. Nice home made meals in Reception area if feeling a bit lazy after a days fishing.

We have a lovely camp 20 mins drive from home on a creek with a permanent waterhole. Only ever a few locals there, was a lovely place to camp for the weekend and catch a few yellow belly. Somebody put it on wikicamps or a similar site and now its crowded by caravanners. The last time we went there we turned around and went home. The place has been fished out. Local people are saying some caravanners are staying for weeks at a time. Now I know of probably a dozen unknown to the hoards camps on our western highways here in qld. Some really nice places within a few minutes drive from the popular free camps. Surely no one expects me to advertise them on the internet. At least I can have a camp fire in the unknown camps. Light a fire in some free camps and people whinge. Sorry jay and dee but Im keeping quiet thanks. Regards Pete

So I have been called a troll on another topic so come on Yobbo post up what you sent on a PM.

The OP said he saw the site on a travel show sow it is definitely no secret spot..

Unless this guy can  show us the PM  he sent then I maintain that his status is a forum troll.

edit post Yobarr damned spell correct
