Three essentials for full time travel

If your traveling full time what are three items you consider essential? Is it mobile internet, is it a Webber or something completely different?

A good question.

1 - My HF Amateur radio, battery and antenna.

2 - A comfortable chair for sitting by the camp fire.

3 - A fridge/freezer.

4 - A shower and stainless steel bucket for heating water over the fire.

(Couldn't quite do it in three :) )

Plenty of back up funds for major repairs & emergencies (assume when & not if).

Maintenance plan (like you do with a building) & maintain everything thoroughly.

Plan for health issues, accidents & list all medications (eg what would you do if you do your back in).

Hi BW

It's similar to your old one but probably much nicer to use and with many more features.

Frequencies: Amateur Radio has a *stack* of RF real estate from 1.8MHz (160m) to 250GHz - the band plan is here:

http://www.wia.org.au/members/bandplans/data/documents/Australian%20Band%20Plans%20191004.pdf

You do need a licence but we introduced the Foundation Licence about 10 years past (no Morse) and if you can operate a computer without getting into a tizz then you can pass the Foundation licence. Most radio clubs run one or two day courses to help.

You should get back on-air - I have no doubt you would have a lot of fun.

This is my main HF radio - a "software defined radio" which enables one to see 1MHz of spectrum at one time, no more tuning around looking for signals - if there is one on the band I can see it and zoom directly in to it - terrific :)

I'm an Elecrafter - KX3, KXPA100 and PX3. I don't operate when moving because the Disco2 Td5 generates FAR too much noise. I reckon I'd need more ferrite than what the car weighs to supress it to a tolerable level... Antenna is usually a 40 foot / side inverted V doublet with a home brew Z-match.
