Suburban gas hot water heaters - serious issue

If you have a Suburban gas hot water heater manufactured in the past one to two years see my post in the "Technical" then Recalls forum.

A serious CO issue - we cannot see, taste or smell CO gas... we just don't wake up the next day... fit a CO monitor.

We had a Suburban gas/electric hot water system installed 12 months ago. It is in the range of serial numbers that were given.  I phoned Coast to Coast and they informed me not to use it on gas, 240v is OK.

They do not know yet what is happening as they have not got any info from Suburban, hopefully they will know by Friday 18/10/2019, I will call them in the afternoon.

I passed a suburban home a few years ago that was blown into pieces and one car thrown over the back fence by the blast from a gas home heater that exploded.

It was a frightening sight to see and took days to clean up, the elderly resident died at the scene.

Apparently he had not had the gas heater serviced since it was installed.

There has been no recall yet, I have been told it is a change in flue design that has not been accepted yet. Still waiting for official word from Coast to Coast the importers.

We have a new Jayco Journey being delivered tomorrow.

Jayco have fitted the Instantaneous Hot water Service to overcome the problem.

However friends have an under year old similar Jayco and are still waiting to see what the outcome is. Other than the WA Govt notification they haven't received any notice. (Theirs is listed on the WA Notice.)

This doesn't seem to be handled very well.
