SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Hi everyone,

A quickie.....Does anyone have and use the 'Airhawk' comfort Seating cushion that is advertised on The Grey Nomads front page?

How goes it?

I have no idea if the seat is anything like the Thermarest self inflating cushion. I never heard of Airhawk.

https://www.thermarest.com/ie/seating/seats/lite-seat/lite-seat.html?srd=true

We bought 2 of these cushions, an older version, well made like their sleeping mats which we also use. Never thought of one floating on water but I can now understand that description.

But we both feel as though you wobble around on them, maybe the Airhawk is a better product. We have both reverted back to a piece, or sometimes 2 thickness, of 10mm EVA sleeping mat foam.

I purchased two before my 2018 trip to Broome via Katherine and Darwin and return via Port Augusta going and Mt Isa returning.

Very comfortable Airhawk cushions are adjustable with a small plastic hand pump to suit the user's preference.

Dougwe, I assume your Coli like mine gives some back grief. I bought a meshed framed back rest from one of the big auto chains. About $15. Made an ok seating position a very good one. I tried a $60 memory foam prestyled one first... waste of money.

Back OK Sarge, just a few other areas of pain that the AirHawk might help with.

I am normally very comfy in the Collie and can drive for hours without problems but things are changing.

Thanks Knight, sounds good.

Jonathan, thanks for your input as well.

We like to stop far more often these days to get out of the car & move a bit as we get far more fidgety even though the car is very comfortable.

 Hi Dougwe.

I think I read in a motoring club mag something like there not a good for air bagged cars or seat belted cats.

I will try to find a little more about extra seating.

Story in Daily Mail "Getting comforable may come at a cost". That is one story and there was another.

Years ago when I drove a truck with out adjustments on the seat I had one of those ball type things, had it for years.

I suffer with pinched nerves cutting of blood flow. Awch my bottom hurts. I wonder what happen to that?

That's what is happening to me Ralph. There are other pains as well but the GP and I are working on those. I just thought the 'Airhawk' might help the rear end side of things. I reckon the bum is suffering from all the kicks up the bum from when I was a little tacker.

 That will do it everytime.

When my bum hurts enough, I just stop go for a walk, simple as.

Can we solve my hand ache problem, its one of those long words I have trouble saying.

If you are comfortable in purchasing one, with your aches and pain and you get relief while driving, maybe sitting around relaxing and you give it a good report, I might ask for one for Christmas.

Please keep us informed as they do look the part.

Just to let everyone know that I got one of the seat cushions but unfortunately didn't do any good for me so a waist of money. For me anyway. Might be OK for others though. I hate to say it but not value for money and I am sad to say that.

Thanks for the feedback, Doug

I was thinking of trying something similar, due to the harshness of the ride, when I have my tyres at maximum pressure
