we live in NSW and will be travelling to Western Aust for 8 to 9 months. Whilst in WA both the tug and van need to be registered, which requires a mechanical inspection certificate. Can I just get the inspection done in WA or how should I handle this ? The renewal & CTP I can do online.

In our case NSW have a register of inspection garages and its pretty much the same . Anything close theyll deffect as your depending on them .https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/find-authorised-vehicle-inspection-station-outside-nsw

Alternatively and depending upon when the Registration is due, given that Inspection Certificates are valid for 6 months so you may well be able to have the relevant Inspection carried out prior to leaving NSW and simply pay it when it falls due!! Cheers
