Showgrounds Camping

After returning from another trip north. I share our experiences with some stays in Showgrounds.  Firstly it is important to know that in the main there are two types of Showgrounds.  Firstly there are those located on Crown Land and usually managed by a User Group Committee but come under the control of the Local Council.  Secondly there are showgrounds that are privately owned and not located on Crown Land.  The privately owned showgrounds are generally owned and controlled by a local Farmers Group or consortium.  The privately owned were as follows:-

(1)  Narrabri Showgrounds NSW (Farmers Group Owned)  $20.00 a night. ($18.00 if member of CCA), power and water, toilets and showers.  On site manager.  Dog friendly.

Large number of sites available and select your own. Will take large rigs.  Whilst the grounds are quite dry due to the drought I recommend staying at this showgrounds.  Great value for money.  Definitely stay again.

(2)  Goodiwindi Showgrounds Queensland.  (Owned by local Farmers Group)  $20.00 a night.  Open area with large number of sites.  Power and water, toilets and showers. Manager lives on site.  Dog friendly. Good overnight stay with            fuel and Maccas nearby.  Will stay again.

(3)  Kingaroy Showgrounds Queensland.  (Owned and operated by a Farmers Consortium)  $25.00 a night, power and water, toilets and showers.  Will take large rigs.  Office manager on site. Select your own site.  Liked it so much we

stayed for four nights.  Great flat sites. Dog friendly.  Definitely stay again.

(4)  Parkes Showgrounds. NSW.  In the main unlevel stoney sites.  When wet after a little rain a number of sites are muddy (West of the harness Racing Track) Power and water, toilets and showers are very average. $20.00 per night.

If you do decide to stay here, make sure you have long power leads and hoses.  Don't know who owns these grounds.

(5)  Finley Showgrounds NSW.  RV and caravan parking managed by the Lions Club.  Not sure who owns these grounds. $20.00 per night.  Power and water, toilets.  Dog Friendly.  Level sites and will take big rigs.  Grassy areas.  Good

basic grounds and select your own site.  Will stay again, but only for an overnighter.

      Regards, AlPal.
