Last week we drove from Mort St. in Toowoomba onto the bypass and actually found it a bit confusing to find where to go to head towards Brisbane. When we drove over the viaduct I was disappointed I couldn't see a thing besides the road (I was the passenger) as the sides/barriers where too high to see over, but we were driving in a car. The motorhome where we are sitting higher may be different. The bypass hasn't been open for 2 weeks yet and there has been 2 accidents so far. The first was caused by confusion and the car driver ended up facing the wrong way into oncoming traffic and had an accident with a motorbike. The second was near the beginning of the bypass and the accident was between a car and a kangaroo. I'd also be interested in what motorhomers and rig and van combos think. Cheers.
Used bypass going to Toowoomba, 7 tons on Isuzu, all the way in 4th gear, the old one I would be down to 3rd if a clear run and using 2nd if following trucks. Just a road , will use if just bypassing Toowoomba, normally stopping there so unlikely to use. Will be going down on Friday.
Just returned to Lockyer Valley towing a van from Dalby using new Toowoomba Bypass both ways, no complaints at all, much better than the original. Easy well signposted entry and exit, much easier on tow vehicle also don't have to worry about navigating through Toowoomba, will definitely be using this road again
