Brisbane visit

Hi, has anyone got any recommendations where to stay with our van for a visit to Brisbane for a few days, and also at the Gold Coast as well. Not really excited about it but may as well have a look around while we are in those areas. Missing outback and far north QLD already. Those areas are not to be beat. Joe

Joe,

There is a free camp in Beenleigh about 30 klms from Brisbane CBD Post Office. Train station in Beenleigh to city.

Beenleigh is about 40 klms Approx. from say Southport and Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.

Have a look at this post.

Plenty of info here.

Thanks Jay& Dee.

Queensland is great but real chalk and cheese each side of the Great Dividing Range.

With any capital city, staying near transport if the things that might interest you is the best plan.

Translink journey planner is useful.

Samford scout ground. Badenpowell.  Park. I think 21 or 22 dollars a night For 2 people. lawnton showgrounds 25 per night For 2 people. Dayboro showgrounds 120 dollars per week For 2 people.  Not sure on nightly. samford  scouts is a bushland setting. Very peaceful and beautiful Is my first choice. drive car to ferny grove train station, not far. our grandies love  to visit us there. Pool. Open fire pit. locals  complained and council closed it down for a long time. It has recently reopened. Now there isa 20 dollar joining fee. Not sure if this is yearly or once only.  I think This was a requirement for reopening. Think you can go to other scout grounds in qld as well. it is the best place in brisbane to stay, i love supporting places  that have To battle To Open. And in the end our support helps scouting which in turn helps kids. Enjoy your stay in brisbane whichever you choose. Enjoy.
