Hi have been on the sit for some time and have owed the van for a 18 mount and have not used it much for many reasons. I have been a farmer for 40 years lot of tools where left at farm when sold but keep some. Now find in a few months I will be hitting the road full time solo. Scary but may be a great adventurer. Ok what tools are need have a good Stanley tool set, 12 volt pump for tiers, battery Stihl chainsaw, cordless drill what else. Do have a small welder but can't image why you would take it.
Hi I have been on the road for two years and just got visiting my house to remove tools and stuff I did not use.I would carry large good quality shifter 1 good set of open and ring spanner, one good quality socket set ,long screwdriver set, large multigrips, pliers, wirestripper, soldergear, files, battery grinder,I don't carry a welder but I would of used it,but you can't take everything you will find the small town mechanics are very helpful and will get you back on the road without costing you a fortune enjoy your travels cheers

Don't forget the tie wire. I have got many travellers back on the road to town twitching something together again. I also have thead files, gas soldering iron, multi meter and big hammer. 2 tool boxes full.
It is a big change coming from a 40 x 30 ft farm workshop.

When I first travelled the Outback I took two women with me, friends asked why two and I replied that it was recommended in the guide to remote area travelling, take a spare of everything.
Thanks all it what I would of considered and there is always shops just didn't want to throw some things away that I should of packed as there will be no home base. Any other suggestions wlcome.
I have a lot of the Bosch Professional 10.8/12v tools. The angle grinder is brilliant. I haven't packed it in the car as I don't have 240 for charging.
Use at least the 4.0ah batteries, the 2.5ah or anything less are too small. Bosch now have a 6.0ah battery which they didn't have when I bought the tools.
I have 18v stuff as well but I am surprised how good the 10.8/12v stuff is. A lot more compact.
I got the grinder for hours of cleaning archbars overhead. The lighter the tool the better, & it was great.

Hi Craig...those things are unreal, and hold their charge forever.I carry almost all of the stuff already mentioned, but I also carry a rivet gun,and rivets,tomahawk,15 amp lead, bow saw, ocky straps,a couple of ladders (one step ladder, and a 2.5 metre one to access the Solar on the van roof) silicone and gun etc etc.Tyre levers, bolt cutters and a jemmy bar. And a 36 stilson...dont ask we why! Cheers
Just got back from the cape what I could have used for another traveler was some #8 wire to tie up his axcel after losing the U bolts the he had fitted that morning .
For me I almost needed a new split pin after a wheel bearing adjustment ,
I took
ring open spinner set both metric and imperial
Screw drivers
Cordless drill used every day for the camper legs , and drill bits
Rattle gun and sockets for wheel changes , but didnt need it no flat tyres .
Battery soldering iron , solder, and shrink wrap, Should have taken push on clips for electrical wire.
A selection of Teck screws and small bolts and nuts
Kings fire pit that I only used once .
Think thats about all .
