Bookings via ... you camp.... web page.

I am noticing  that there are a lot of camp spots that are now using the .. You Camp... website for bookings.

Seems to me that you can not just roll up. I wonder if one can just arrive at the mentioned site.

Is this another sign of bookings similar to Trivago or Wotif. to name a few.

I can assume  that ... You Camp will not be offering this service without a large commission.

I think we may see more entrants like You Camp coming into our massive camping tourist market.

That would only come to pass  IF people use these types of Apps. I for one will never use them as they will lead to higher prices and less money for the provider due to commissions. If no one uses them then they will sink without trace. I do not need or wish to use any type of pre-booking system including some states national parks.

You camp has been around for quite a while.

You need to arrange your visit prior to your arrival.

The owner of the property contacts you after your inquiry & providing dates on the website.

We gave it away ages ago after two property owner failed to contact us.

They obviously couldn't be bothered with one night stayers.

We never know where we will be the next night as somewhere interesting always pops up so we can't book any site anywhere.

You-camp is akin to Uber and AirBnB rather than Trivago and Wotif. The sites typically available through You-camp are not traditional campgrounds and are only available because they can use You-camp to list, reserve and possibly charge for their site. In that sense, if you like this type of camping then You-camp has unlocked a good option to both the camper and property owner, one not previously available. I do wonder how long it will last before govt at some level becomes involved as it's pretty obvious some sites leave a lot be desired. As long as traditional campgrounds and CP aren't encouraged to join You-camp, it will stay just another way to find, book and pay for campgrounds.

I have generally found that Youcamp sites are fairly expensive for what they offer. Youcamp is the "middleman" and is there to make a profit. Many Youcamp sites seem to offer big city type camping getaways not too far from those big cities, or close major holiday destinations. People using them for shorter term getaways from the hustle and bustle appreciate the quiet or natural beauty and are willing to pay for it.
