My Prostate Journey

I'm fully aware that this is my 3rd post on this topic, and apology in advance.

1. I`m a "0 Hero", PSA of 0.00. as of 9.30am this morning.

2. And this is the real reason for my post, and I am fully aware that many have been down the path of my last 8 weeks.

Sooooooooo. PLEASE. Wives, Daughters, Sons, Grandies, Mates etc.

Encourage the ones you love to have their PSA checked regularly.

I left it for 18 Mths, 70mm cubic of cancer, and Prostate removed, however I`m still here and will tell "all and sundry"

Regards.

Hetho

Congratulations on your successful recovery, I hope all continues to go well. I went through a similar journey 4 years ago and had a radical prostatectomy, now all is well. I would, however, like to add, as well as the psa test, do not neglect the digital test. My psa was normal but my doctor detected a lump via the digital test which was found to be low to medium prostate cancer. My urologist said the the psa test is only about 80% accurate. I count myself fortunate that I have a diligent doctor who insisted that I also have the digital test, something which I had previously neglected for some time. Regards EJP

Hello EJP.

Thank you for all that info, I`m about to check it out and you are 4 years on. That gives me positive vibes.

I have my next appointment  with my surgeon on 7 Nov, and I will mention your comments. Thank you.

I think he wants to talk about Erection stuff; but right now I`m happy with feeling somewhat normal.

Regards.

Hetho

G'day Hetho. I will never be a zero as mine was treated by radiation. My second numbers after treatment (about a year later) came back as 0.42. I'll take that any day.
Cheers.

Glad your numbers are good, but just a quick couple of questions...Along with the radiation treatment, were you, and are you being treated with HDT as well and how many weeks of radiation were you put through?

Tony

G'day drtooheys. As to the HDT I don't know what it is so I guess I never had it. My radiation treatment was 40 zaps over 8. 5 day weeks. An after thought. Before I started treatment I was given something to improve the flow but dribbles was not my problem so it was stopped. Cheers. Jack.

HDT = Hormone Deprivation Therapy. Basically, as soon as i was diagnosed they started me on HDT in the the form of an injection of Lucrin which would last 3 months. Unfortunately it didn't agree with me so after the first 3 months it was changed to a monthly implant through injection of Zoladex, it comes with some side effects, but hey, the alternative aint great. My last PSA result was 0.02. The Dr has said the injection forces the reading down but if anything nasty comes back it will rise regardless,(we sure rest a lot in the they will be happy as long as it stays below 1. I get it tested 3 monthly.
