Personal preference really, everyone's different.

Anyone noticed that the width & load capacity of modern chairs is getting bigger?

250kg!!!!

Might be time to put the drink down, visit the bakery less & go for a walk. biggrin

There is no "best".  Best is what suits your circumstances.  Just go into BCF and a few other similar stores and check them out to see what you like.

Have a look at the Opposite Lock chairs.

They are solid and very comfortable. And a big plus with them

is they fold down to 16th of their open size so take very little room to carry around.

I have used this Coleman chair for about 15 years and find them to be excellent:

Hi Ger88

We are all different so what someone says is the best chair, may not be suitable for someone else

Wife just brought a new camp chair last week

After sitting on many chairs in the camping shops in our home town, she settled for one from BCF

Not sure of the brand, as it has been a bit cold/windy to sit outside, until we go a bit further north

About $120 odd from memory

As everyone has alluded to, it's a purely personal choice. I wanted a robust chair with a drink cooler pocket & pocket for books, phone etc. We settled on a pair of Wanderer chairs from BCF and were happy for the first few trips. Then SHMBO sat in a friend's chair that reclined. Insisted that she'd like one. It's 5kg heavier than the one she has and we need to watch the weight we carry, so I suggested she lose 5kg or leave the rum & coke behind to compensate. Can't repeat the response. disbelief  Suffice to say the manufacturer of the van has determined we can actually upgrade the ATM of the van by another 100kg so now everyone's happy biggrin

I can't use my favourite chair as I now need my legs beneath my body to stand (or I'm likely to fall). I've settled for a camp bed which I can use as a recliner and I swing myself to the side to stand or a director's style chair. It's not just about preference, it's about what suits your needs. Browse a few camping stores and websites then. try before you buy.

I bought a pair of the tall ones from Aldi during their last caravan items sale. They replaced our Coleman types that had broken their arm rests.

Aldi had two types on sale at the time - a short one and a tall. The tall ones recline right back far enough to have a nap. Both were just under $50 each as I remember.

One thing I didn't like about the Coleman type was that both arm rests had to be lifted together to adjust the back - requiring two hands.

Have been happy with the Aldi ones for the past six months.

I like a folding forward chair as they can be stored flat, the Dune chair is one, check for Anaconda specials. You can get the lumbar support and they recline as well, but others have said, test drive all of them............cheers Bob

I love our "gravity chairs" from Bunnings at $54. I'm heavy at 132 kg and these are strong. Very comfy and light https://www.bunnings.com.au/marquee-gravity-chair_p3192214

I am not a small bloke but I was in a Home Hardware the other day and I see in the shop a taller than normal camping chair that folds and does all of the things that all the other chairs do.
I look at the price and it is 129 dollars so although I liked it I and thought it was very comfortable I did not but it.
So..Iwas chatting with one of my daughters and was telling her about the chair and she said...Dad if you want it buy it, we arent going to need that 129 bucks from you..ever... so be comfortable.
I was in a lesser chair when I heard her say that but do you know, that chair then became very comfortable when she said that.
I might go back and get that big bugga chair after the next pension cheque...

we have the coleman 5 position layback chairs and they have been great especially for sitting comfortably under the awning BUT they are too heavy to carry to the campfire further along the campsite so have just bought one of the director types with the side folding side table and its also very good.

We have Helinox Sunset Chairs, I believe there is a larger one now. Not too bad for the type of folding chair they are. In our case it is a space issue in the car & it is the only chair that will fit.

We also have a couple of flat folding stools we can put our feet up which I highly recommend.

We bought a pair of xl moon type chairs with carry bags on special for $60 delivered 3 years ago from Kogan with 12 months warranty. 1 developed a problem at 11mths & they agreed to replace it - their warehouse replicated our original order & sent another 2 instead so we now have 3 working chairs & 1 for spares. As we spend a lot of time sitting around the camp fire we find the advantage of the moon type chairs is they provide more draft protection around our backs & body.

looks like I never got around to doing a write up on these( i meant to )  but I did a couple of vids on this topic.

The first one is my new oztent king kokoda chair which I find the most comfy chair I'm yet to sit my ass in .

This other one is a run down of many of my other chairs which I have accumulated over the years which bought me to the chair I recently got above :)

The oztent hotspots you looked at are pretty similar I believe to the kokoda one I have or the others in that line, like the goanna and gecko I think.

As said in the video, if you're trying these ones out with the adjustable straps for the back, do yourself a favour and play with the straps whilst your're in them.

Not being adjusted could have easily put me off this chair and it would have been my loss. Once adjusted right, they're bloody awesome.

I can't speak highly enough of it.  Seriously, I have been on what seemed like an endless hunt for the perfect camp chair, sitting in everything in shops, at camp shows and everything my mates took camping.  Whilst this is not perfect, for now its about as close as I can get. It really needs a table to be perfect but I'm looking for one to fit, then I'll be happy as a pig in it.

All that said, my mate doesn't like it and prefers his director type chairs.

cheers Brett

The most comfortable chairs usually take up the most room. I have just replaced my Cascade 8 position recliner with another, this time it has a table on the side

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OZtrail-Cascade-8-Arm-Chair-with-Side-Table/332894219365?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Dianne has the Cascade 5 position version, she is only 5' 2" tall and the 8 position was too high for her. They are both very comfortable chairs but they do take up a bit of room, luckily we have the room.

Lifetime White Plastic Seat Metal Frame Outdoor Safe Folding Chair

We have had several different types, all folding, last lot were Directors Chairs and I found them to be very uncomfortable after sitting in them for any length of time. As I have matured, Aged I find the reclining ones not all that fabulous and far too hard to get out of. We bought a couple of these from Costco a couple of years ago, 'Lifetime Chairs', $32-00 each at the time, good quality plastic on folding steel frame, shaped seat and back, very comfortable, light and easy to carry best we have ever had.
