We hear the road between Coober Pedy and William Creek is generally good unsealed. Has anyone done it recently? Were leaving our van in the lock up CPark for a two day camping side trip to L. Eyre.
Appreciate any advice.
was there last week.road is o.k. took the jayco eagle outback with us. only damage is the stones and the undercarriage, it ripped our brake lines and then after i taped them up it ripped them again.
road into/outof williams creek is corrugated so slow down.
Lake eyre has water so go and see it.Now this road to the lake is a basket case.
Yes, the Coober Pedy to William Creek road is typically "good unsealed". It had some rain on it 7 weeks ago and was closed for a short time but dried out again in a few days.
Cheers,
Peter
Thanks everyone! Completed the run without any serious damage. Lake Eyre and The Painted Desert made the bone shaking drive worth it. The poor people at WC pub! They are overwhelmed - make that over-run. The camp ground was overflowing almost every night. Refuelling every six days instead of three weeks normally. Re-stocking groceries every couple of days instead of fortnightly. Good luck getting a table for lunch or dinner with 4WD bus tours. Doing their best with extra backpacker labour. And yet the not-so-great Aussie winge persists. Give them a break guys - its the outback not the Hilton. Thank goodness for a cold beer, a cheery campfire and spuds baked in the coals.
