BMW TUG

Hi all We have a 3.0d turbo X3 and intend to tow a 17ft jayco poptop dual axle, at the moment we are going through the van making sure it is in good condition and safe. We have a 275 watt solar panel on the roof going into a deep cycle battery. using 12v lights and 12v tv/dvd and looking at a gas heater for cold nights but thinking why travel and be cold. Seems to have plenty of storage but we shall see.

Will keep updating when we are ready to go.

cheers Margaret and Barry.

G'day Margaret & Barry and welcome to the forum.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.  Hope your van works out for you.

Pete and Marion

After a little checking I notice you have been a member for some time but I haven't seen you around for some reason so welcome to the gang Margaret and Barry. enjoy here and out in the playground.

"Seems to have plenty of storage but we shall see". Just be careful not to overload the van filling up all that storage. I have heaps of storage in my aluminium tent but also, still, after nearly five years being in it full time, heaps of spare space due to, if I filled it all up I would be over weight. The aluminium tent that is. Not say'in about me though smile

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

I did a spreadsheet & weighed every single item down to the last mobile phone cable. We thought we were doing well but were over our payload. 24kg of item under 1 kg not including food or clothes! It's frightening how the little things add up!
