I've been using wikicamps for about 18 mths and love it.
I use it almost daily to plan my trip.
I find the comments amusing because, like people, there are huge variations of the comments posted. Comments with vary from a near hell-like experiences to others stating its being in heaven - all on the same day
I was camped at Kings Canyon and the people next to me posted that they were disappointed that an expensive CP didn't have grassy sites - in the desert!
I am full time GN and have used it for some time now. I used 'The Bible' (Camps Australia) at first 7 years ago but found it was out of date before printed in a some places so started using 'Wiki'.
I don't just read the first couple of entries for a location but read many then check out the pics and prices if any. I sum up what has been said then make my mind up if I use the spot or not. So far so good.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

We have used Wiki for about 4 years, and find it very useful in guiding us to the availability and quality of the sites, both free camps and caravan parks.
As with yourself though, I do note the very large discrepancy in the feedback under comments, and will generally take them with a dose of salt, especially when the comments vary widely over a short time span. The issue is caused I think, by the varying level of expectation that people have depending on their experiences previously. To me a perfect example is the current discussion about the flies, lack of them, or over abundance of them, currently in Far west Queensland, and also in the same thread, what constitutes Far West Queensland.
That said I would still recommend Wiki as a good resource for the travellers (as is the Camp series of books!)

We use Wikicamps all the time, here's some recent comments from people that have been to Noccundra regarding the plague of flies west of Cunnamulla & Charleville.

So what's your experience with it?
The comments on wikicamps, some are good and some are bad and others don`t have a clue.
Yes wikicamps is very good, once you install it their is no more costs and is updated all the time not
like some of the camps books that cost about $80 every two years.

Agree with you Doug,
We have been an avid supporter of Wiki for about 4 yeras.
Would not leave home without it. We have it on our two Mobiles and both laptops.
We have found some great camp spots which we would not have seen on the "Bible"" so Wiki is now our bible.
Some of the comments have me a little confused.
One person would say shocking would not come back whilst others say this is there 3rd visit etc and would highly recommend.
Different people......= ........Different views I guess.
I am surprised that the Camp Australia Wide... have not jumped on board with the modern Tecknowledge to meet the cpmpetitor.
Happy Days.

Have you used the Camps App Jay?
FYI....
Its the only one we use and we found it up to date, user friendly, accurate and has suitable comments we have found useful. Have not used Wikki. We also use the Camps book which, contrary to what a few people have said on here, is up to date. I update it very easily from their website before we leave on our trips.
So there is a good alternative to Wiki in the "real world".
Cheers,
Chris.

We use Wikicamps regularly, its a great resource for finding stops and things like dump points. I do always take the comments with a grain of salt, there are some people for instance who go around giving really low marks to any spot that doesn't allow dogs, without considering anything else about it, and others who give top marks to everything that is free even if its a noisy dump. But that said I still wouldn't be without it now.
We use WC all the time and have it on all three platforms (Win10, IOS and Android).
The reviews, costs and photos need to be taken with a grain of salt especially if they are older. But the other info and links are invaluable.
As people can edit entries it does get a bit of misinformation at times but then ask FB or any internet forum and there is always someone doing the same thing.
Got the Camps books but we use Wiki Camps 95% of the time.
It is quick and easy to use and we use the trip planner which we message or email to our children so that they know where we are and where we are going as well as where we will be camped.
This feature alone is well worth the few dollars for the app.
Threw Camps Australia book out the window (sorry put it in the bin) years ago. Only use wiki camps now. Like Dougwe, I read what people have written and the photos and make up my own mind. So far so good.

I use CA and sometimes Wiki. If you use CA you can update it for free for (I think)4 years. Still use Badgers Caravan Park Reports when planning a trip
Ive tested a couple of apps, WikiCamps and Camps app and WikiCamps is by far and away the best. I feel a bit for the owners of Camps but when you check for comments on their app there just isnt any and its sadly lacking.

Ger08,
My Camps App has a lot of comments, some C Parks dont have comments but heaps do. Most free camps have great descriptions of roads in and sites.
I Dont know why people on here are misrepresenting the Camps Apps and books. Perhaps they need to do some homework.
I'm sure they (Camps) dont need anyone to "feel" for them....they are doing a great job.
(I have No association with Camps, just a happy user)

Camps certainly has descriptions but it is sadly lacking in the reviews and and comments area. Just pick a few sites and compare the Camps and Wiki.
I had the Camps books but I sold them in a sale as I found Wiki Camps to be all I needed and it is in my phone and not stuffed into a pocket behind the seat or just floating around in the cabin of my ute.
It is very easy to plan and record any journey and I budget for and include fuel stops as well from the Wiki Fuel App. This also records my purchases an useage.
The only thing I have found that in some areas their mapping is a bit outdated but having said that I just ask a local for info or you can get good info from tourist centres or even the local police.
On mapping I find it very annoying when you are using maps in books and the area you need with detail is spot on where they banged a staple in to hold the book together.
These Apps do take out the need for any pencil and paper work which for me is good.
We use both Wiki Camps and Camps 10 book. Use the printed book more when planning out rather than the HEMA map book, we then use Wiki app to ascertain if the Camps info is still relevant and to check comments. Like Olive Oil we were in Qld last week and they had all the friendly flies come and visit with us, didn't use the nets though.
