Indigenous people are not exempt from camping fees in QPWS areas when camping is recreational Mike. QPWS staff aren't either. Your taxes, which don't necessarily fund NP in Qld anyway, don't come into the equation. Camping fees are used to cover some consumable costs and to limit the number of visitors. They will never cover construction and maintenance costs. Pay or don't, your risk.

What wasnt logical about the comments Michael? Was it the fact they didnt agree with your point of view or something else?

I guess from your response, you do not pay the fees, and obviously feel that you are entitled to do it this way. Fortunately most on here dont subscribe to that opinion. I guess you didnt get the support you may have been seeking when you posted.

Mike
I suggest you take a step back and have a good think before responding again.

To answer you question from a personal point of view.
We always honour the charges, whether national parks, forest, donation camp or whatever.
I believe they offer a service, and am willing to pay for that service.
If it is a below par service we do not go there.

We do too. Recently  stayed at moore qld. 5 stayed overnight. 2 of us got electricity. They ask for a donation to careflight. We were the only ones to donate. I expected the other couple would donate just for the electricity. Someone has to pay for it. But no. Sorry, a bit off topic. Just  had to say. Back to the topic.

At least two respondents in here could heed that bit of advice...

I guess, bottom line is, user pays. Its a heck of a lot cheaper than staying in a caravan park And ambience alone is worth it. If you want to pay nothing there r lots of free damps, donation camps  and rest  areas. I know 2 victorians who come to qld for the winter and stay at a 3 day donation camp for a month And run their genie at night so the misses can have her electric blanket on. i just shake my head. Come on up, youll have a great time. Enjoy.

>I guess from your response, you do not pay the fees

Well I haven't been there yet so it's a bit early for you to say

that, don't you think?

>and obviously feel that you are entitled to do it this way.

Bad law or bad taxation should not be adhered to - except by sheep.

Try this kind of legislation on the French and see where it gets you.

>I guess you didnt get the support you may have been seeking when you

>posted.

It is a very long time since I sought the support of anyone in order

to justify my beliefs and actions and I certainly don't seek such

from the 30 or so people who post 80% of the material to this forum.

The degree of superiority and righteousness presented, over the

years, by many in this group is both considerable and amusing. They

just can't wait to saddle their high horses and attack where they

smell weakness in order to demonstrate their purity. To who do they

need to demonstrate it I often wonder - themselves, perhaps...?

If you allow government to walk all over you then it will - we have,

or damn well should have, an inalienable right to use non secure

Crown land in this country for "quiet enjoyment" and I will not have

money extorted from me by government, with all its power, in order to

lay my swag down on a bit of dirt.

If you are happy to acquiesce to your masters then so be it.

>I suggest you take a step back and have a good think before

>responding again.

Your suggestion is rejected.

---

I initiated this post because many comments on the Wikicamps app.

suggested that most people who use such Qld sites don't pay and I

wondered if that was reflected here but I suspect most of the

respondents to this thread don't use such Qld sites much or at all

and, if Wikicamps is anything to go by, are out of touch with the

masses.

MH.

From a camp on the bank of the Murray River in a Victorian State

Forest where I may camp in a spot of my choosing and stay for four

weeks, no facilities, no charge which suits me well.

Gotta agree with what you say Mike.  Me thinks we might be 'birds of a feather' or whatever that saying is.

It makes me sad to read the above posts. This forum used to be a place for "friends" to meet and discuss amicably their thoughts and feelings. So many have left because of attacks from the likes of those that have attacked Mike above.

Is what he said so bad that you have to be so nasty? Don't you have the capacity to simply disagree with what he says? after all, all he said was that he should be able to stay at places where no facilities were offered for no cost.

How about just being nice. The Heaths? I think I have said it before "leave this forum please" you are just a troll intent on destroying.

 MarkAC,

And how many people do they employ at council to provide that service is what I am getting at, the numbers employed at the majority of councils is staggering!

And therein lies the irony of many of your posts over the years Michael.

I will leave you to your free camp on the Murray, and trust you find somewhere free, but warmer, next year.

MSG, thanks for your friendliness as well. Perhaps heed your own advice regarding posts, as disagreeing with someone is well short of trolling the forum. I also see the irony in your comment when I think back over the years. Perhaps also confine comments to the open forum so we can all see what you have to say, as your feelings expressed are certainly mutual.

I will retire so I dont upset you all further.

Hi all,
I think I will close this now. We would like to keep our forum a welcoming place. Please ensure that your comments focus on the topic rather than on the member who posted.
Thanks for your understanding.
