Hi all, our new van is ready in July, and the manufacturer, is asking if we would like RV Gard (actual name brand) product applied both internal and external, the cost being $1350.00 but I heard that once you use this product, you cannot use anything else, and to top up your polish and other stuff once its runs out is not cheap.. Has anyone had this product used on their van, and how does it stand up to the element and cost...
Just my opinion, but like the similar protector 'treatments' pushed at you when buying a new car, they are seriously overpriced. It's where dealers (hope to) make a huge chunk of extra profit. The stuff will have protection qualities and therefore not exactly snake oil, but they are a real take. Why would you need it inside the van? I use a Turtle Wax spray wax once a year on the outside, it's about $16 a bottle which covers me for about 2 years. Sorry I haven't answered your question as such, but I just wanted to express my view on the topic.

Agree with Tony here .Turtle wax each year and keep yer van clean inside ,no problem .Our van is 7yrs old and still smells new .Really a bit of elbow grease is good .Plus $1350 buys a good chunk of fuel ! Cheers

During the build of my aluminium tent I had 'Vantec' applied to the exterior. Five years later and never being under cover once, 3-4 months a year in the QLD tropics, summer in VIC etc, etc, the aluminium tent is as good as new. All I do every now and then is give the beast a wash with clear water. I think for memory it was around $1000 to have applied but worth it in the long run.

Thanks for the update and opinions guys, I was happy to receive all of them.. I think the Turtle wax has won, also the van will be locked under cover when not in use, so its away from the elements for quite a period.
You dont seem to see many vans on the road with faded surfaces unless there fibreglass this surface seems to fade very badly , and Definitely needs protection over the years, on a New van thats not fibreglass it will always keep its nice surface if you look after it mines a few years old now never been garaged and still looks like new ,no snake oil surface protection
Thanks Flags2.. We have no decided to go with it and have it applied before we collect the new toy, the dealer has brought the cost down to $1095. For external and internal, but he says its a Life Time Warranty.. The van is a 22ft Off-road job...
Hey Doug, out of curiosity, how long was the warranty of the product..
KB
Hi KB,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have been looking for the Warranty Papers because I can't remember. I had no luck finding them with all the other van papers. Not sure why though. I have also had family things happening over weekend.
Glad to read you have decided to go with Vantec as I think you will be very happy with you choice and outlay.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.
