Thought I would throw it in here to get your thoughts re the article on bubble wrap.
""My wife... Dee.... was telling me that she heard on TV. that the Federal Government is thinking of instigating a federal loan to householders to the value of $50,000. I am guessing that one would have to own their own home or at least own a large proportion of the home. Q. When would the loan have to be repaid. I am guessing that it would be interest free. ( Banks would not like that) Does anyone know if this is on the drawing boards. I said to my ...Dee.. that she must be dreaming. If this is going to eventuate then imagine what this will do to drive the economy. People spending the $50 000 on home renovation, up grading their vehicle etc etc etc. I would doubt if the Government would want the$$$ spent on a overseas holiday, as only the local / or international airlines and travel agent would benefit. The money spent would certainly drive the small business and trade contractors, who will then in turn say thanks to the Government by way of additional income tax. Also think aboutof the extra employment opportunities. Smart move, but how much money will they, the Gov. need to fund this scheme. ( if it is to come into fruitition.
If this is not the case, then Scomo should give it some consideration.
Ok,Here is the article I should have posted under the heading
"" Bubblewrap,does it work for the cold/heat for caravans/""
I am again wondering if bubble wrap is a great deterrant especially in winter to keep out the cold. I have googled the following:-
""After applying bubble wrap insulation onto your window pane from the inside, small bubbles serve as a network of many insulating pockets filled with air. During the winter, bubble wrap can effectively protect your home or greenhouse against the cold penetrating inside and prevent heat from moving out."""
I am guessing that this wrap would also apply to our caravan. Has anyone use the wrap and if so what is your verdict re its performance??

Hi jaydee, we do not use bubble wrap but use car sunshields that u use for windscreens On hot Days. they come in two sizes and we cut them a bit wider than the window And use double sided tape to keep in place. We travel full time and every winter we use them and they definitely keep the caravan warmer. Good luck. Sorry photo is upside down. Do not know why.

As above. I have cut windscreen sun shields to fit every window in the car. They work really well. If you stuff a few up use it as a template for the next one. They are bubble wrap in a slightly different form. Pockets of air is what is creating the insulation & the more you have the better the insulation.

I got a few pieces of the sun shade like material that servos use to insulate their spare piles of bagged ice at XMAS time. It has reflective stuff over 'bubble wrap'.
They just dump it after the rush period is over.
I used it inside pockets of a cover I made for my engel. As the bubbles get broken, in theory I can slide them out and insert fresh pieces.
Yer gotta be dreamin if you expect Scomo to give anything away to battlers.
I have a solution for caravanning in the cold ... Dont!
the Federal Government is thinking of instigating a federal loan to householders to the value of $50,000.
Only a pathetic 6 years of liberal government has greatly increased these types of payouts. Was only $900 under Labor!
Back to the tiresome issue of climate change..... I have installed a lot of Air-cell now Kingspan, under our roof tiles (no pink battery rebate for me) over the years. An absolute sh_t of a job, but it has stabilised temperatures summer & winter by about 2°C. So well with the effort if you are planning on staying put for many years.
If you want under roof tile templates I can post images using Air-cell without lifting roof tiles.
