Silos

GDay.We have just got back from a '"silo run " .We left Echuca last Monday and had a very easy day [ 3 vans 3 couples ]as none of us had been to St Arnaud we made that our first nights call at the park way up on the hill looking down on the town .

Off late next morning to visit all 6 sites at a steady pace with lunch at the bakery at Warracknabeal . Lots of other vanners at all sites too. Then it was off to Mildura to  All seasons holiday park .Followed by 2 days of playing tourists eating out and tasting wines !

After a fond farewell we headed to Swan Hill  and the Riverside Park for 2 days of visiting the Pioneer Settlement on the first evening for the Heartbeat Laser Show that was fabulous ! .Next morning back to the Settlement for the entire morn to enjoy the whole scene. A bakery meal an thence over to Murray Downs country club followed by a magnificent Thai meal.

Homeward bound on Saturday with a long stop at the Catalina museum at Lake Boga was a nice finish prior to lunch at Cohuna .

Aside from a fun week we spent money in a number of towns for fuel ,bakery lunches and every night out too .Cheers.

Sounds a great trip John. I too like hunting down painted silos etc.

The feeds sound good too.

We were speaking to the owner of the CP at Merriwagga NSW a few days back.

The town needed $50,000 - $100,000 to get theirs painted.

It is a working silo so there are OH&S issues.

Their research has also shown that painting a silo doesn't necessarily result in visitors staying overnight or spending money in the town.

More a case of take a couple of photos & move on.

They're thinking of spending their money upgrading facilities in their town instead.

At Brim we found at least 20 caravans camped overnight. At $10 per van and that was mid week and there isnt any other reason except the Silo Art. The Wimmera tourism board have found it so successful they are organising 4 more silos. Rod.

Haven't seen those yet. Which ones are they Bill B? The first 3 or is it 4 of the Yelarbon Qld silos are now in progress according to the Toowoomba Chronicle and are supposed to be finished sometime in June. They didn't have the funding to do all of them at this stage.

thumbnail_IMG_1622.jpgHere's another silo that impressed us. It's at Rochester near Echuca in Victoria and is very impressive.
