We finally have our old 1985  7mtr self contained van ready to do a month or two trip from here in Geelong heading North to the Murray near SA border and travel East along the Murray as far as practical ( not comfortable doing high country as van heavy and stress about holding up traffic.) 2001 3ltr Turbo Nissan near new motor goes great and tows very well but we on a pension and cant afford any major breakdowns, anyway ,  Woud love any guide as to best routes, free camps, few parks and Country pub camping (love a beer and a good counter lunch). Have searched and found lots from all over but we only interested along the Murray. Heres hoping .. Leaving last week in June. Shouldnt be too crowded. LOL

Hi .Jeppo, We did a trip to ayre pennisular from Leopold last year, good first day overnighter is Duffholme cottages at Mitre, its a farm, $15 powered, no water hookup but water is available, showers & toilets, basic but interesting, not much traffic heading north from here either, look it up on wikicamps, Cheers ,Joda ..
