Sad to be told that Torbanlea Racecourse has been shutdown as a powered sites and unpowered sites use by caravaners by an adjacent Caravan Park complaining to Hervey Bay Council. They were only charging $18.00 per night for powered sites and $10.00 per night for unpowered sites. All the monies raised by these sites paid for the maintenance of the racecourse and any monies left over was donated to a few sporting bodies in the area. Since being closed down the sporting clubs have fallen on hard times and i have been told some have ceased to exist. I myself am not going to support this other park in the area at any time and say "shame" for the petty mindfulness of their actions.

Such a shame. Will not use that caravan park there either. By the sounds of it, Money being paid helped the community.
Outlaw, Torbanlea Racecourse has been closed to camping for over 6 months, closer to 12 months. Impending closure was first signaled and reported locally back in 2017. My rellies in the area always recommended other camping area anyway.
Place is empty. First time we have been past to see no caravans. Told about this by the coffee van next door when we got coffee on Tuesday after talking about it.
