Bloody backpackers. Have had a lot in our travels and only a few were annoying But the lot who are staying at this rest stop with tonight take the gold medal. Lost count of how many there are. some turned up during the day, then night time tents come out then lets have a good time and do not consider others in the camp And keep everyone awake With our noise. Then 10 pm a van turns up and drops of more back packers, then 5 minutes later a car that was here before comes back, loaded with more backpackers. They seem like they are working and using this 20 hour rest stop to livein. What is wrong with farmers, why cant they stay on their farm. I am just gobsmacked. carrying on making loud noise after 11pm is just plain disrespectful. When we got here today another camper told us last night this place was full of noisey backpackers. But i have seen this before. Another time, about 2 years ago, strop asked them to be quiet at 1am and they told him that this is a free country. Strop said, yes it is, and you are a guest in it. Anyway, i think we are in for a long night. Moving tomorrow.

One would already be disturbed with sleep, make it a marathon all night noise of work on the rig with hammering and clanging (e.g. do a whole rig wheel rotation tug AND van) tune the motor with lots of max rev revving to clean out the engine, straighten out that collection of bent tent pegs on the a-frame / draw bar with keeping beat of hammer strikes with your favourite music at full blast, preferably high octane boom, boom, doof, doof stuff and of course you will light to work with, LOTS of intense LED FLOOD lights and make use of the time wasted otherwise getting frustrated.

Believe me i would have liked to have done that but the place was full of caravanners too. We wOuld all have been awake. Eventually, enough was enough and i went and spoke to them. Said this is a 20 hour rest stop for travellers. Some people here may be travelling many miles tomorrow and need to rest up and they cant because of your noise. said a bit more than that, i was firm but direct. I have had 4 kids so have had lots of practice. quiet a few minutes, then on again. Took about 45 minutes for them to shut up.
Unfortunately, you get what you pay for in free/low cost camps.
Farmers probably don't want them on the farm because they are too noisy!
I don't think that's fair imo. Been in some caravan parks and a normal discussion 3 metres from us in the next van is worse!
We have always had our packing up procedure primed. Takes as little as 5-7 minutes. Came in handy once when shooters started their hunting after midnight so we took off. Mind you, upon leaving the area we read a sign we failed to read upon arrival "no shooting before midnight and after 4am" lol
So pack up quick and leave.

Thankyou for your input. Yes i was young once but i did not ever think i was entitled to disrespect a whole campground full of people.
Olive Oil, yes we were all young and full of beans and probably thought we were also invincible, but as Rocket pointed out, RESPECT
is the key word here which seems to escape this new generation. Parents probably have a lot to answer for here.
Whilst we're on this, how about getting the parents of young juvenile offenders to take the fall, when said juvenile steals a car and causes
carnage. Juvenile gets a slap on the wrist whilst the owner of the stolen car is without a car now.
Then again I suppose BOGANS breed BOGANS until the cycle is broken.

Hi larry, yes, respect is appropriate word. Do not have to be bogans to be disrespectful. I just shake my head at the new generation, not all mind you. Last night makes it two bad experiences with back packers and i wonder are they that disrespectful in their own country with their parents. When theres a group of them they just ride roughshod over everyone. They were not expecting anyone to challenge them. Neighbour yesterday told us 2 female backpackers were parked next to them not long ago. Both girls were wearing only a gstring. She told them thats not acceptable and to put some clothes on. Thats just asking for trouble. They did as she asked but could not see a problem. We have seen this too, having a cold wash under a tap, bending over to wash their hair Stark naked. Bet that congered up some thoughts. We are seeing it all. Happy travels.

Having worked in retail as a casual for the past 10 years prior to retiring for a 3rd time this month, I can tell you it is NOT only the current generation who show a lack of respect.
In fact, the worst ones are our generation in my experience.
Few manners, grumpy demeanour, and in many instances not a pleasure to deal with.
As The Rocket says, not all are bad, and as Olive Oil says, all generations have them. Our problem is as we get older, we become less tolerant, and rather than blame our generation we blame the current one or the parents. Interestingly, those parents are often our kids. Where did they learn from?

I have had some success with disruptive neighbours of any age by playing "Jingle Bells" on a loop from the iPhone to a Soundbar pointed their way. Method started when I asked a group to turn the music down so I could sleep. "We are helping out, Mate, by sharing the music". I gave the them the same answer in reply when they asked me to turn the Jingle Bells off.
My worst experiences have been with those who think everyone likes, or should like, country and western style wailing.

In the old days if you were walking up hill people would give way. Not any more. Now I simply keep walking.
These days I brace myself for people to run or walk into me. Happens on a regular basis. I had one person run into me full flight on a walkway, pretty sure they came off second best, I didn't even bother to turn around.
