In the multitude of counsellors is wisdom - Need advice

Hi we are new to The Grey Nomads ...My name is Philip, Sue my wife and myself (pensioners) have got rid of the static lifestyle and are venturing out into the unknown, we purchased a FORD TRANSIT LWB 1998 Camper we have lived in it for 1 year and found it a bit small for long term living..4 us (Alice Springs - area)

Our next vehicle that's were planning....we need some feed back here, could be either a Mercedes Benz Sprinter  or a Toyota Coaster our kitty is $20,000 for and empty one and we will fit it out with all the necessary fittings, because reliability is number 1 on the list our preferences, swings more towards the T.Coaster influenced by word of mouth....so what say all of you ? any personal experiences ?

appreciate your opinions

thanks

Phil & Sue

Hi Phillip,

Your self & Sue are only 2 so  I think  unless I can't count  you need  to advise also on the  4 you need long term living space for.  Also with a only a $20000 + fit out kitty &  unless you are planning minimal KM per year,   your planned travelling in my opinion may be short lived unless you have $ in reserve for the  on going repair  costs.

Thanks everyone for the advice, yes there's only the two of us ... but we plan buying an empty vehicle to fit out as we go, ...cheapest option ....but anyone with experience and advice about which vehicle is considered the most reliable to choose from Mercedes Benz Sprinter, a Toyota Coaster or if you have another suggestion, please, most, if not all have been on the road way longer that us thanks again

Hi Phil , you might consider a Hino Rainbow RB145: they are about the same size as a coaster but with more head room, flat floor an rear engine and seem fairly bullet proof. Nothing wrong with coaster though great Toyota product.

Hi Phil

We are new to the nomad scene and although our hino 145 is our first it sure fits the bill thus far.

i have a list of specs i can forward if you like as from all accounts teh previous owner of ours spent wisely.  keep in mind the need for a light rigid licence to drive it
