Has anyone been on the Road beside the Ord River on the Wyndham side , years ago I came across an old grave marked by a panican (Tin Mug).A little plarque saying it was the postman from the book We of The Never Never. Saying he drowned ,on the Rum in the river. Is it still there? it wasn't obvious when I was there just off the track. It was not open to the public then, I was working when I came across it.
ACCORDING TO HIS CONVICT RECORD : BORN 1838 THAT MAKES HIM 74 NOT 62 AS ON GRAVE APPARENTLY ACCORDING TO JENNIE GUNN , IN HER LATER YEARS SAID , HE DIED AFTER COMING BACK FROM WYDHAM AFTER A NIGHT DRINKING A COUPLE GALLONS OF RUM.

Tiny piece of trivia....
My grandmother's maiden name was Gum.
She was closely related to Jeannie Gunn. Somewhere, one section of the family changed their surname a little for some reason.
Cheers,
Peter
