Movement in the camp.

Welcome to April and my March update. Sit back and read away if you dare.

I Have moved, yep, gone even. After many moons I have finally left one of the nicest CVPs I have stayed in. Mmmm, I haven't stayed in many, in fact only a few in my now 7 years travelling, four and a half full time. (With permission from Webmaster) The Glenrowan Tourist and Caravan Park located just out of the town up in the Warby Ranges, north east VIC and would have to be a little hidden gem. The manager, Kylee, goes way beyond the call of duty and I tell you that for free. Her Husband, Dean, helps out at times as well when he is not working elsewhere. Amenities were always spotless, laundry clean and most sites drive through. Unfortunately, not all of those you can actually leave your car connected.  There are only 20 power sites and heaps of room for tents etc but unpowered. There is even a pool, yep, a very nice one at that, not too cold and not too hot, just right. Um, I have heard that somewhere before? I spent many an afternoon in it and again just before bed on many occasions. The park is in a bush setting and not far from Wangaratta and Benalla, even Albury/Wodonga and Shepparton are only a one-hour drive away.

I was there due to heath reasons and needing security for the aluminium tent and car if needed and power to run aircon when I needed, including nights. Kylee was so thoughtful, if she didn't see me around, she would come checking up on me or ring/text me to make sure I was alright. So, a VERY BIG THANKYOU to both Kylee and Dean for all their help and allowing me to stay longer than they normally allow. There are no permanent sites at this park so I was very lucky in deed. The other good thing about this park is it is only $28.00 per night for two people with power and water, at the time of writing this anyway. There are also older style cabins but have been renovated inside, air-conditioned and very nice and clean.

You hear all the bad stuff about caravan parks but not many say good stuff about them. Well, I have changed that in this case. So just in case you missed it,

I was going to leave end February but had that fall I talked about last month that held things up. I had to get to Canberra to see a Specialist then back to Glenrowan but thanks to Tony and Bev, Grey Nomad friends who arrived on my return from Canberra, to help me pack up I was able to get away early March and I am now set up in Young on my friends farm again, so much closer to Canberra for any follow up visits etc. The Specialist also visits Young.  A very, very BIG thankyou to Tony and Bev for all their help. My mate Garry in Young had also offered to come down and help but after all the hard-long hours he works I didn't want him driving all the way down and back again. A big thankyou to Garry though for his offer.

The Specialist was great and after many tests etc it looks like things could be sorted by a new tablet she has put me on. If it does work, I will be taken of three others I take now. So, take one to go of three sounds a good deal to me.

The stupid mishap of falling down the aluminium tents step seems to be finally on the improve so that's also good. Still a way to go yet but most of the pain has eased thanks to a GP in Young who changed the pain killers and added an anti-inflammatory to the mix. Unfortunately, the injured leg was actually infected, I thought it was but was told by a nurse in Wangaratta, nope, all good.  It started to cause a small problem but the GP in Young with the assistant of the nurse there, the injured leg got sorted as well and is also on the road to recovery. Again, still a lot of healing still take place. Turns out it was worse than first looked.

On my arrival in Young Garry helped me set up the next day by doing all the hard work for me and I was only capable of doing light duties. After a short time with the expert help from Garry all was set up ready for my stay. THANKYOU GARRY, FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

Garry and Roxanne have cattle on their small farm and due to no food left and the cost of food to buy in, also a weather forecast not looking good in the near future it was decided the little moos had to go, not only the cost but for their good as well. Garry also has a Live Stock Transport Business so mid-month the cows were rounded up and loaded on the truck. I went for the drive from Young to Forbes Sale Yards and return. The little cows huddled in the corner of a holding yard at the sale yards, looked so sad. It was a sad day all round really. As a city slicker I haven't had all that much to do with farming etc so to see how dry things are and how droughts effect farmers first hand and close up brings everything right there at ya. Not nice at all and my thoughts go out to Garry and Roxanne and all the farmers in drought effected areas. Dorothy McKellar was spot on when she wrote, Australia, a land of droughts and flooding rains.    

The month moved ahead quickly and not much done by me due to the recovery process but a couple of small drives took place so all good in my GN world.

I also had another visit to the Specialist but in Young this time so that was good. Instead of a 6 hour drive I only had a 10-minute drive, much betterer. I had a good visit as well, she was very pleased with how I have responded to the new tablet, so much so I was taken off one of the blood pressure tabs there and then, on the spot even. I still have a problem with the old ticker but we are working on that and also, she successfully investigated WHY my blood pressure is so high and my Potassium Level is dangerously low. The new tablet is sorting that out as said above so I am a happy camper.   

I spose I could say that March was much kinder to me than February so no complaints from this little black duck.
