Good rain to the west / north west of Queensland.

Plenty of rain about at the moment from Gold Coast / Brisbane. Looking west by north west we are experiencing rain in aa long wide band from west around Longreach on a line to Brisbane.

Great for the farmers in that huge region. They have been waitinf for years for this type of weather.

I agree JayDee - hopefully the mongrel drought is breaking.

And while Townsville got more than its "fair share (1.6m)" in late January, early Feb, it is still raining! At least another 25mm today - the back lawn is almost a quagmire.

If anyone (inc Dougwe?) is heading north to see the Reef, etc, hold off for at least a month - or do lots of sweating.

.. and just a reminder that the road conditions can vary ..

I live in Boomi, just south of the Qld border where rain has been quite good in some parts. Goondiwindi (in Qld) and Mungindi (NSW) both received well in excess of 180 mls. Boomi is situated roughly halfway between both but we received  only 30 mls .. recent roadworks between Boomi and Mungindi have caused some delays but still passable. That particular road is currently being sealed and is expected to be completed by the years end. All other roads into Boomi are sealed but some can be narrow in places. Heavy Transporters do frequent these roads so you're well advised to give them as much road if possible ..

Gentle rain is needed here still as we are a flood plain .. it will happen ..

cheers

Jon

They tell me 88% humidity is better than what Victoria is having at the moment - really?

The only reason for having a shower these days is to get rid of the BO. Five minutes after drying off, one is covered I sweat again! 236mm I my gauge so far this month & I mowed the lawns earlier in the week but looks as if I didn't!

Just take care on the roads - wherever you go.

Interesting news item at the weekend on Tobermorey Station, just over the Qld border into NT - on Plenty Highway. Flooded to the top of door on old homestead. Ten workers air lifted out - including a couple who had just begun work there. A photo showed their caravan and 4WD well flooded! Might have been a grey nomad couple like we were, doing seasonal work!
