Residents in Longreach are being urged to be vigilant with their dogs when visiting the Thompson River town common area.
Three dogs died at the weekend due to suspected 1080 poisoning after they visited the river with their owners.

Longreach veterinarian Brittany Newton says signs of poisoning can occur very quickly and it's important owners act quickly if they suspect their dog may be unwell.
