We're new to the Grey Nomads forum, so thanks for having us. We are looking at replacing our current van for an ensuite semi off-road van, without the cafe seat/dinette, but with recliner chairs. We would like a late model in good condition, or will go new if we have to.
Our tow vehicle is a 2018 SR5 Hilux auto with 3200kg tow rating.
Crusader make the Recliner series 19 which looks about what we need, but we would like to know what you think, and what else is out there.
www.hcrv.com.au/vehicle/new-age-oz-classic/ Hi Waz and Vick, have a look at this one just for interest. We had a walk through on Saturday with a maybe buyer. Seats are pretty comfy, not very high off floor. No storage under is a drawback maybe? Lots of cupboards in van overall. this van is truly as described.
We have recliners in our van , so much more comfortable than sitting bolt upright in a dinette . The crusader seats supplied are very low and dont go upright . We searched everywhere and got some office recliners on wheels from Harveynorman . They are the right height for the table as they are adjustable and on wheels you can manouvre easier if reaching for a cupboard door or sink . We have a carpet section under the chairs so not to mark our vinyl floor . We use a large strap to lock them to the leg of the fold out table during travel and they dont move st all , no problems even on 80 klms of dirt road , but admittedly it wasn't badly corrugated . Not for everyone but we're happy.
We ripped out our L Shape and installed cover over the wheel arch with storage, then cut the table to a trifold and bought 2 recliner / swival chairs. swival chairs is great as we can reach the fridge and slide out pantry whilst sitting. Bst move ever. Our cost around $700.
We have a 24ft Jayco Silverline with recliners, fitted as standard. Very comfortable for two persons, but we are full time travelers and they suit us. One issue with recliners, is that the storage that was under the seats that are in the position of the normal layout van is not there, so in our case the water heater, batteries, water pump, trailer braking all had to be fitted in new and non std locations.
Another point which needs to be considered is, do you need the recliners to fully reclined back, i.e. snoozing position. If so, you need at least six feet clearance to do this. All this equates to room and so length.

That looks real comfortable, nice choice and well fitted out.
