Thought I would share this with you because it is something that I asked RACQ specifically this morning. We have RACQ Ultimate roadside cover and have had for quite some time (like many others). I have always wondered if the Ultimate roadside cover extended to your caravan (as well as your tow vehicle) when away towing. I put it to RACQ this morning and the answer came back "Yes". If you are the Ultimate Cover driver, then any caravan that you might be towing is covered by the Ultimate roadside level of cover. I posed two scenarios; namely, blown and shredded tyre on van and secondly, a failed house battery in the van. In both cases I was assured that Ultimate assistance covered the issues.
I then asked "what about the new "Ultimate RV" assistance cover for an additional $99 per year". The reply was that this is specific to Motorhomes and campervans and does not apply to caravans because they are already covered by the Ultimate roadside assistance. At this time the Ultimate RV assistance cover is a "trial".
Thought this might help someone out if they were pondering the levels of roadside assistance. I can't speak for the other States and Territories outside Queensland, but I would assume they they offer something similar.

We have Ultimate with NRMA. We had issues with caravan in QLD and RACQ call centre said not covered for the caravan in QLD.
Rang NRMA Ultimate care line and they provided assistance.
RACQ is not worth a cent.
Well Snippy i do think that are a bit snippy about RACQ, as you have said that you are NRMA one would think that you would ring them first, NRMA has your details of your vehicle and or van not the RACQ.
When we had trouble with our car we also had the van as well in NSW, we rang RACQ as we are have the Ultimate care with them, we did not ring the NRMA, but the RACQ got onto the NRMA to come and assist us. cheers reg
Snippy, RACQ have a number specific to their service centre. They interact with the organization of the state you are located and in trouble. In fact, they say to call them not the local organization. All state motoring organizations have varying size restrictions which may or may not matter on the day (some denote agents are flexible because they are agents under contract as opposed to employees). btw Most differences relate to the available fleet vehicles limits and RACQ (others too) are upfront, you just have to know YOUR vehicles. If the state you are located can't or won't assist and you are RACQ's limits, they will organize an independent recovery. I understand most states work the same way. Ultimately, everyone should have the highest level of assistance they can afford or meet, and know it's restrictions.
Most of the auto club services are fairly similar,I live in NSW but chose the RACV membership. It seems better than what the others offer. Prices seem comparative.
FYI, as Snippy said, the 13 number that you ring will only connect you with the "local" state Auto Club, NOT your "home" state auto club.
All Auto clubs have a different 13 number but the national telephone system connects you to the local state club that you are in.
This system works well if you are just a car, but, if you are towing or have need for anything more than basic roadside assistance then you MUST ask to be connected through to your home state.
Your home state club will make arrangements for the non-standard work order to be done via the reciprocal arrangements they have with the local state organisation.
