We were carried back to Townsville from 300 kms inland via Ken Tame insurance breakdown cover. Miximum of $600 paid. Seemed quite reasonable to us and we are just over 7 mtrs and over 4T weight

I'm 6mtrs. 3.5t. NRMA put me on tray for 400ks. Me and the dog travelled in tow truck . No Charge.

No one size fits all IMHO.

Depends where, when etc,,, however many companies truck other trucks and busses,,, BUT they cost big $.

If you are that worried, maybe spend $ to ensure roadworthy.

I have know call outs to be $8000 in remote areas,,, just call out $,,, NOT rate per km to move.

Have to ask why won't RACQ come to the party, if you are a member it is up to them to arrange towing in the event of a breakdown.

My Cvan is 7 metres overall and got towed back from Inverell to the Sunshine Coast on the back of a tilt tray (due to damage to suspension on a trip).

A few more details why RACQ will not help would be nice.

RAC (WA) have a clause in the policy that vehicles over a certain length are not fully covered for trucking out, or something like that, but it was explained to me, because we are over that length, another section of special payments will cover most of the extra costs involved. So I am covered, but its in a roundabout way. If interested, I could find further details. But perhaps RACQ has the same system.

It is not clear if you are looking for a tow company to do that job (I provided one above), or if you are looking for an insurer to pay the cost.

Most motoring organisations have several levels of cover at various costs for various vehicle sizes.

Ken Tame has some roadside assistance cover available to their insurance customers and there are other roadside assistance providers as well as these. Google will find them.

You will find that high coverage for expensive events will incur premiums that are commensurate with the risk. Like all insurance, long term you will likely be better off providing your own insurance, if you can.

Unfortunately we have had to do this more times than we liked we also
7.2 my 4.5 tonne. Never a problem with NRMA. Not cheap but when you ate parked in a free amp by the river in the middle of nowhere its well worth it. Never any additional costs

Why I have two seperate motor batteries seperate from
Deep cycle batteries . Carry a spare serpentine belt, plus a few other tools . So far I have fixed other vehicles. Thats ok though .
