Remapping

Towing a 21'6 van with 2017 Ranger 3.2. Feel as though I need a bit more power. Any thoughts? Remapping v chip v dyno tune.

If you want to maintain your warranty, I wouldn't be doing any remapping or chips. I have a Ranger 3.2 and a 3 tonne 21' van. Have hauled it up and down the dividing range without an issue with power. Never felt a need to chip it.

Why do you need more power? Do you want to top most of the hills in top gear? If you are a little more patient you will have the time to look around and enjoy the trip. If you take things more easily then you will save a lot of money. Not only will you save the cost of the modifications, you will save fuel. It costs more fuel to go faster and fuel costs.

Hi Ubob , if you are going to go down this track for more power a dyno tune is the way to go , ,,probably pay to add an aux cooler to the transmission while your at it too
As the others have said the ranger should be ok as it is , and warranty will be voided once you do this ( it's hard enough getting support as it is ) ,,, but that's your call , if you do go down this track make sure you use someone with a good reputation and thorough knowledge of your particular vehicle

Thanks guys for your prompt replies. Maybe my expectations are a bit high. Saying that, i still love the Ranger. Ps how many ltrs per 100km should i expect on average towing.

As with most turbo engines . Opening up the exhaust to flow better, more efficient intercooler . As said better trans cooling . So your actually enhancing vehicles efficiency. Then tune in REAL time for durability.. A chip alone is not enough . May over fuel at lower rpm etc ? We tend to fit taller tyres, wheels to our vehicles which plays havoc big time final drive ratios and pulling power. Not that I suggest low profile tyres .

UB I would expect you could easily expect low 13's to mid 14's liters per 100 kilometers, under normal conditions,  your gear selection and speed choice will play a big part .
