A man and an ostrich who were travelling together along a highway entered a restaurant.
As they sat down the waitress asked for their orders.
"A hamburger, fries, and a coke," the man replied.
The waitress then turned to the ostrich and asked the same question. To which the ostrich replied: "I'll have the same".
A short time later the waitress returned with the order. "That will be $18.40 please," she said.
The man reached into his pocket and, without looking, pulled out the exact change.
The next day, the man and the ostrich returned to the restaurant after staying overnight at a nearby hotel.
They decided to change things up and order something different.
"I will have the steak, baked potato and a salad," the man said.
"Me too," the ostrich echoed.
The waitress brought over the order. This time it came to a total of $42.62.
Once again the man pulled out the exact change from his pocket and placed it on the table. The waitress was curious as to how he had the right money again.
"Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change out of your pocket every time?" she queried.
"Well," said the man. "Several years ago I was cleaning my attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it a genie appeared and offered me two wishes.
"My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there."
"That's brilliant!" the waitress replied. "Most people would wish for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live."
"That's right. Whether it's a litre of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," the man explained.
"But, sir, what's with the ostrich?" the woman asked.
The man sighed and said: "My second wish was for a tall chick with long legs who agrees with everything I say."
