gMail & *!* Google

I would assume many other nomads or travellers have gmail accounts.

How do you stop !*#$! Google from blocking your account every time you shift (Google blocked someone with the password to .@gmail.com from signing into the account).

This action is driving me around the twist! Or have I missed something in the set up?

Mine works good and has done for over 10 years. There is something called LOCATION setting on mobile devices that maybe a problem.

I have had a Gmail account for years without any problems. So far. I have my location as set ON.

The only thing that bugs me for the last 12 months is, I get flooded with adds.

I have have a laptop that's not as bad but my Galaxy S6 is driving me silly.

I heard that down the back.

I was forced to open a gMail account as Telstra refused to let me have a bigpond account because I don't have a "House Phone" despite working for them for over 40 years, having two Telstra mobiles & a mobile broadband account.

I'm now trying to find the "Location" control.

I've had various eMail accounts over the years and found that Gmail is the better account. If you choose a email from your internet provider and change providers you have to change accounts. I can log onto Gmail from anywhere from anyones' computer. Used to use Hotmail but it went pear-shaped for me when I moved to Apple as the filtering of junk mail assumed you were using a Microsoft based computer.

We have a gmail account as well, it's surprising what information they keep track of. Places you have been, things you have searched for etc

Facebook and Google are in cahoots and a Google Account gives you access to the list below. With Facebook, Google search, Google Mail and Google maps etc, your whereabouts, details that you give to websites (here included) and activities are known. Once anything is on the internet, no matter how private you think it is, it's public.

Ok chaps, here is the question I raised

I have found that when recently (& other times) travelled from home to Toowoomba to Canberra that every time I try to send an email, Mr Google (who I assume is the controller of gMail) blocks me with an email stating - GOOGLE HAS BLOCKED SOMEONE WITH THE PASSWORD TO (MY EMAIL ADDRESS) FROM SIGNING NTO THE ACCOUNT.

At one stage Google told me the "person was in the USA"!! How anyone got hold of my email address, I do not know - either that o there is another city in the USA that has the same name as the one in Victoria.

I've had to change my passwords so many times that my fuse is getting shorter & I may revert to someone else.

Both LLD & Dougwe suggested something to do with "Location" had to be "on" - I spent most of yesterday afternoon going though Google & switched something called Location History on. I also have a dozen numbers to insert I it happens again.
Is there anyone with some knowledge of Google who can assist me with this issue? I appear to be the only one in my family with it!

Warren, the way I read that is LLD suggested that your problem may have something to do with the Location settings. The most likely problem is if you have the locations switched on you may not be able to log in at a remote location. Dougwe replied that it works for him with his Location set as ON. As what you switched on did not clear the problem you may as well switch it off again.

I had a look around the setting for you to see what may affect you. I noticed when looking in Settings > Accounts and Import  > Change account settings: there are three links. The bottom one, Other Google Account settings, has a heap more settings you can play with. Click on it and you get a contents list down the LHS. I clicked on the Data & personalisation link and found I had the Web & Activity, and the two YouTube options switched on and the others Paused. I have since paused the three that were on. There may be something under the Security heading affecting you.

Apart from that there is nothing I could find.

Thanks Peter, I'll have a look tonight.

I'm obviously missing something in the system.

Uhm, no location setting for gmail that I'm aware of, mail by definition is location agnostic.

Looks to me that someone [ or a bot]  is trying to hack your account and has been blocked, as they have entered the wrong password n times.

The message is a warning only and google recommends you change your password.

Use a long complex password and just ignore the warnings, or, if its too much create and use a new account.

You may be under a form of cyber attack, no panic, just be careful, and if your not sure seek advice, but not from here.

xman,
No it is not a stranger as the times given & most of the locations (only one odd one as mentioned above) are from my activity. You really don't want to know my password (something like 20 characters of most things that I'm allowed) & I'm fed up with changing it every time I shift location! I've been in Canberra for nearly a week & I still cannot send an email!
And as this is my main email address, to change it again would make things quite difficult.

As far as this forum goes, I'm happy to seek solutions from most of the members.

I'm sorry my friend, but you make no sense to me at all.

Your location will have no impact on your email working or not.

Something else is causing your problem, maybe try your isp (internet service provider) and ask them.

Try
1. Delete your Gmail app on your device (not your Gmail account).
2. Clear your browser History
3. Clear your Cookies.
4. Reinstall Gmail app and set up your account again

If this fails to resolve things:-
- try your Gmail access from a different computer.
: If you still have problems then it is a problem with your Gmail account.
: If ok on an alternate computer, it is with your current setup in your current computer.

Happy fault finding
