Microwave mounts

Hi, it will be a while before my 14' Journey arrives and thought with the brochures that they included a microwave.

Apparently not, not even as an option.

Thankfully Aldi had a 20 litre model on clearance for $39.95 and picked one up.

Now need advice on how to mount it firmly for travel

Any ideas?????

Thanks Alex

You can purchase lock down straps similar to these www.amazon.co.uk/Babbio-Furniture-Seniors-Earthquake-Protection/dp/B075NL5D2F at Bunnings.

Another method is to use threaded rod the same size as the screws that hold the rubber feet onto the base. Secure the rubber feet back on with a nut to help lock the threaded rod and pass the rod through holes in the shelf you want to mount it on, then washers and nuts to bolt the whole thing to the shelf.
The inverter microwaves have become popular in RV's these days because they are easier to power from an inverter when running the microwave at a lower power setting. They are also rectangular shaped as far as the oven part goes and don't have the rotating glass dish, this makes it easier to fit the rectangular shaped Pyrex dish in that won't turn around on the turntable type. They even come in grill and fan forced oven combinations so the one appliance becomes multi functional, very important in a smaller RV.

Not exactly sure how you have it fitted ? I bought four furniture pads that lounge kegs fit on . I sikoflexed pad in correct place . Left to harden overnight . Then next day after cleaning microwave. Filled pads cups with sikoflex and put microwave on top . I used a cable tie just in case of accident. In five years its still there .

Hi Terry

No such fittings on the bottom of the MW, 2 raised metal  bumps on the back

and 2 cheap plastic buttons on the front. Will think about it later, as trying to source

grey water tanks and porta pottis on evil bay

regards

Alex

Ah, ok, you can fit rivnuts like these  https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/106pcs-Nut-Rivet-Riveter-Rivnut-Nutsert-Gun-Riveting-Kit-Threaded-Mandrels-M3-M8/182610880804?epid=8011367782&hash=item2a8474e924:g:zX0AAOSwwPRcJzBb:rk:8:pf:0 where the metal feet are and then do the threaded rod thing. These aren't all that expensive and have a thousand and one uses once you actually have them in your handy bits box.

Get a better type . The one I bought wasnt hardened and you need to be superman to press, crimp . Get a set for stainless . Much stronger easier to opperate .

OK - an update
The first build notice had no microwave and was disappointed
Purchased the $40 Aldi 20 litre one as mentioned
Just received the latest and last build order and it HAS the microwave listed
I guess that I have a spare one in case the jayco one dies
SIGH
At least I have one now for powered sites (rare) but useless when free camping.
Checked out the site at Kangaroo Valley last week before the last of the Sydney
hordes arrived - 20 vans and about 40 tents
The water in the river was beautiful and will be the first place I visit as it is only
and hour & half away.

Loved that area when we lived at Lake Illawarra, there are quite a few great free camps and low cost camps around the Illawarra and South Coast regions. Now we live in Mannum we are right on the side of the Murray with a great water view every time we look out the front window, so we are a bit spoilt now for river views when free camping  Still love the peace and quite a free camp beside a river provides
