Hi Brimhunter you can go to Karajini any time of the year summer is hot 45 48 Celsius
How ever you probably will not get up to the Gibb river or the cape till winter as the roads will be closed for the wet season
as I am sure you do not want to end up as Croc bait trying to cross rivers hope this helps Gazza

If you look at popular 4x4 forums you'll find that BT50's have a bull bar mounting point problem.

Lots of them completing the Gibb with their bull bar on the roof rack.

You have made that point before, but in my travels down the GRR I did not see any bull bars on the roof.

I am a member of several BT50 forums and have yet to see any comments re issues with bull bar mounting points.

If I am wrong on this, please point me in the direction to find out more.

Have a gander at this, there are plenty around 2012 but I would hope they have fixed the problem.

You need to wait until the dry season to do the GRR, which is basically winter time. Pretty well assured of getting through without too much effort at that time of year and heaps cooler as well. Very hot at the moment. Karajini has sealed road pretty much to the door step but will be not fit for human habitation this time of year. Very hot.

That only details one event of a bar coming loose. Where are all those reports of bars on rood racks? From that thread there were problems with 2012 fitted bars.  Mazda had fixed the problem. This is similar to the Nissan Patrol problems - in that case there were only a couple of years of production with problems. The later ones were OK but the usual suspects keep throwing up the "Patrol grenade" problem. Get over it you blokes and report on the current situations.

The OP has purchased a new BT50. Had I purchased one and read that there is/was a previous problem with that car (be it years ago or not) I'd be grateful for the short comment about it to increase my knowledge.

Its ok to not feel likewise as it is for dd to feel its relevant. Too many moral police around here.

i would suggest DD made his statement to cause an argument of sorts and i guess he succeeded if the guy had bought a navara we could of all jumped on him and told him of all the bent chassis rails out there he asked about the time to go north if you cant give him an answer why carry on with other dribble

The detractors have once again, achieved what they needed and that is to drag a simple question into something that has nothing to do with the original question.
It happens with regular monotony on here and the one concerned in this instance is very good at doing it.
For the worse, others unfortunately have supported him.
What these recalcitrants need to realise that there are many readers on here that may have been interested in the experiences of other members who CAN provide some sound information with regard to the original queries.

If you cant contribute with related replies to the questions then leave the topic alone so that others may benefit.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.....

Yep hard to believe on the coast in NSW what the weather is like up north . I did a lap, was told to hang off a few months during summer due to wet season ., They tend to have wet and dry season rather than warm and HOT ! Best advice i got . This was upper WA / NT . But still applies ., Take it easy . Happy safe travels .

Hi Ron...my light hearted comment was not an attempt to denigrate DD,but more to suggest that Dicko could perhaps temper his criticism of those of us who are wont to share our experiences, sometimes wandering slightly ......ever so slightly.....(?) off topic! DDs posts sometimes are possibly a little extreme, but it would be a boring world  if we all were the same, would it not? Happy New Year to all!.Cheers.

I have tried GRR in May- fantastic, April - closed between Home Valley and Derby, August -dry, busy and terrible roads.
Found it amusing to see some of the comments. When I first read the post, I was too quick, and saw the heading (Just got my New BT50), and saw the last sentence (any pointers)
A bit of discussion took place, no swearing or bullies, some observations by a few, but all quite tame.
I do not see why any member would have been upset by the comments.
If you were, just learn how to scroll on by and get over it.

Happy New Year everyone!!!
If I can digress from the topic for one moment (apology to the OP) please.
Is there any chance that this forum can stop the ever-increasing nastiness! I can't believe the responses to this post.
For heaven's sake can we just cool it for a change and have a PLEASANT 2019 and be good to each other......

Yep, I'll try to ignore the moral police and the assumers of members trying to create an argument when he isnt on this occasion in my opinion and I'm entitled to my opinion. That doesn't mean I'm nasty. Have a good and healthy 2019 everyone

Not involving moral police but more just a lack of respect from some....

For goodness sake the OP asked quite politely in both the 5th and 8th post to please refrain from the bull bar information as he clearly knew about it but NO....some had to go on and on even after it was stated that the problem was from 6 years ago.no

Totally agree that anyone is entitled to their opinion but as a forum it should be ON THE TOPIC ENQUIRY, and not dragged into senseless banter by supporting someone that has on numerous accessions set out deliberately side track a topic.

To continue on after the OP has twice requested that he did not want the topic dragged to suit someones agenda is just rudeness, it has nothing to do with the moral police or anyone else.

I have read and re read the OPs enquiry and I could not for the life of me find anywhere in it where he said he was fitting a bull bar let alone asked any question about one.

Unfortunately it happens too frequently on here.

I might add as well, that adding a link to another caravan web site on this open forum may be breaching forum rules.

Have a Happy New Year and respect the OP in all topics by keeping replies on topic.

Eaglemax,
no one is saying you were or are nasty!
The comment was a general observation of this forum over the last year or so.
My comment should be kept in context please.

Avoid the Gibb River Road from 19 to 23 May 2019 due to the charity bike race for the Royal Flying Doctors. I have met someone who has done the race & she thoroughly enjoyed it.

Have you got a second spare, TPMS, tyre repair kit, long nose pliers & multigrips to remove things from tyres, compressor (air duster is handy), tyre pressure gauge, spanners etc for repairs? I broke roof rack bolt on another road probably due to 2000 km of rough roads. Also additional fuel, builders gloves, chocks to level the car for the night, multi meter (preferably a DC clamp meter)? Enough heavy gauge extension leads for solar panels, spare fuses, jumper leads, fire extinguisher, first aid kit? Braun 2 x AA battery toothbrush (not as good as a 240 volt toothbrush, feels like it has a modestly flat battery, but it's not bad if you don't want to go down the 240 volt path in the car). Water?

Chris, that is a great trip you have planned,do Karajini mid May or the end of May depending on the end of the wet.

Then Broome, then on to Cape Leveque,by that time the GRR will pose no problems. You will meet plenty fellow travelers maybe to team up with.

We had a great time up the Cape,do the Mud Crabbing tour, will post some photos on Sharing Photos section,to whet your

appetite.
