Four one-piece fibreglass composite panels make up the floor, roof and side walls and state-of-the-art bonding technology means there are no screws, rivets or fasteners.
That is hardly a new technique.
And using carbon instead of glass would save a relatively small extra weight (and reduce the repair options significantly).
Pity they do not provide any technical information whatever.
Then again, there is always someone with more cash than they know what to do with.
Reading the posts I get the feeling that some people are jealous. If the guy wants to spend $220k that's his business. The interesting fact is that is was built at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I wish the manufacturer all the best and hope that the business continues to flourish.
I'm with you Ger08 and Umpie1, Good on the manufacture's and good on those that make a decision (without reference to our forum members) to purchase one. If I see one on the road down the track I hope they will let me take a close look. The only "negative thing I feel is "Oh, I am soooo jealous. Have a great Xmas all and for some don't spend to much time concerning yourselves about other people making so called bad decisions :):):)

Peter_n_Margaret, we saw an Oka with a tray on the back heading north up the Bruce Highway (opposite to us) yesterday. I think its muffler had parted company with the rest of the truck as it was extremely noisy. I trust yours sounds normal.

Carbon fibre has a very high tensile strength, combined with very low stretch and is certainly not brittle. I have a friend who races high performance 2 stroke go carts and he makes reed valves from thin carbon fibre.
It is a great material to build sandwich panel from, just very expensive and a relatively small gain compared with glass. Most of the weight is in the resin rather than in the fibre.
There is also no need for the panel to be black on the outside. There must be a gel coat surface and that can be any colour. White is best to keep things cool.
Our OKA sounds "normal" Warren :) I do know that some don't have mufflers at all and don't make too much noise as the turbo absorbs most of it, so the one you saw (heard) must have had a problem as you say. It may also have been fitted with a different engine. Many are being fitted with the 6.7L 6BT Cummins and 5 speed Allisons. That transforms them.
