I just did a quick search on this forum, and the NO... NO... NO.. has it by a country mile.

So I guess that answers my Question.

No way, would I rent our caravan out. Their are a number of issues, the main one is insurance . Plus their are a lot of people that will not look after it.

So NO NO NO.

The Aluminium TeePee stays with me. Has to anyway cos I live in it. Even if I didn't it would still be No No No.

I wouldn't do it, but many owners do hire out their van when it is sitting idle.

[edit: but then again I wouldn't rent out my residential home either - or have someone house sit - but thousands do]

If you are emotionally attached to it then it is probably not a good idea, for you.
If it is a purely commercial decision, you can clearly cover the risks with insurance and it can provide a (taxable) income.
There are also commercial organisations that will handle the details for you, for a fee. You set the rates and conditions.

someone was wanting to rent a modern van on our local chat site - $1300 for 10 days plus an extra $100 if you take it to a local caravan park and set it up for them (which you'd want to do to be sure its done properly). As its a windy sea side area I'd worry about the awning if the wind got up. We also don't cook much in our van and not fussed about other people sleeping in my bed. That's why we have a caravan instead of staying in motels. It crossed our minds - briefly for less than a minute. I'm sure insurance would be an issue too.

Did do this many, many years ago. But was permanently parked at a caravan park. We had no annexe though. It was used for people working temporarily in the area. Do not recall any problems.

also, we hired a caravan a few years ago. Owner dropped off and picked up from caravan park at the beach. Was not much to hire and we paid site fees too.

we had a holiday caravan that sat in our front yard a lot of the time And travel full time now In another. Would we have hired them out NO. Saw a car pulling a hired caravan into a petrol station not long ago. There were some fairly big pot holes. The driver drove car and caravan fast through them all.

This goes back to 1970 but our family decided to go to Eden to Boyd town. My brother had to rent a van and found a retired old chap that ran a small business renting vans.

Any way he had three vans on offer, but started off with six. Three had been stolen. In those days they didn't have computers so all they did was take a name and address and write down the license number, then leave a deposit.

None of his vans were ever recovered. Just saying.
