What's everyone up to for Christmas?

At home, out on the road somewhere, meeting fellow nomads?

We are flying out of Coolangatta Gold Coast into Melbourne via Qantas  to spend 4 weeks with our 2 sons and families over the Xmas New Year festive season.

We have 3 Grand kids birthday in early January.

How I would have loved to have hitched up the holiday unit ( caravan) but SWMBO and my self to a certain degree was not up the task. I will have a slow walk up the steps to enter the plane at C'Gatta.

However next year, we hope to travel south for the summer.

If so then we certainly will be visiting Green Lake about 1 hour west of Shepperton and a little closer ro Woodend. Great spot, except you have to vacate the camp site over N.Year. I think that is still the case for 2018 & 19 going forward.

The Temp in one of our son''s home town of Woodend has hovered around 12 to 24 in November and so far December. Other son lives in Shepparton, which can get a little warmer.

We spend Christmas in Toowoomba. Christmas lunch is at our place. Dad (91) and brother will join us for lunch. Son and fiance will visit at some stage. He usually works a shift Christmas Day and daughter and family will also visit. It is their year to lunch with her hubbys side of the family. We're not a big family. I remember as a child going to my grandparents place. Tables were set down the side verandah of their old Queenslander and there were around 30 of us. Cheers and a happy and blessed Christmas to all.

Sounds great all. I'm off to Whale Beach (Sydney) for a niece's wedding. She and her partner live in New York but as they're both Aussies they are getting married out here. All the family will stay on until the 28th before we pack up and head our separate ways. Should be a hectic time I imagine with 4 little ones and a fair round up of adults.
It will be interesting to see what happens next year if my plans to go travelling happen although I imagine I will end up taking my bus to wherever everyone is.
Hope everyone has a great time.

If things go to plan I'll be way out in the bush in east Victoria in
my brand new Snowy River SR-19 caravan well beyond mobile phone range
and discovering all the things which are new to me in the caravan as
opposed to the tent bush lifestyle.

I'm looking forward to it :)

We will be in Fowlers Bay SA, for no other reason in that it sounds like a nice place with the chance of some fresh fish...

We were in the Finders Ranges over the new year. It was actually pretty cool but they close most of the tracks from 1st December to 30 February, bugger, due to heat & safety. So we went up to Chambers Gorge as it is a lt hotter there & walked most of it. Dead kangaroos & goats every 100 metres, the smell was hard to take & stuck with you for a few days (ironically we had activated carbon face masks in the car but had not taken them on our walk, live & learn!). The not quite so dead animals were desperately digging in the pebble river bed for water & would not run away from us they were that desperate. We had checked out the weather first & there was a "cold snap" for 5 days, but we go out before the 45 plus temperature the next day & back to the coast!

DD,7 weeks in the Flinders sounds good, should give you plenty of time to go to the Gammon ranges and Arkaroola,if you haven't been there you will enjoy it.

Hoping we'll have 4 generations at home. Mum (94), self & wife, daughter, son-in-law & grandson (7), son & daughter in-law. That's 8 covering 4 generations. Not a big family but getting everyone in the same room for lunch no matter what the occasion is not easy.

Prawns, cold meat & salads, pav, & a cheese & fresh fruit platter. No burnt BBQ offerings, no over or undercooked roast meat and veggies. And all pre-prepaired with little cleaning up.

I'll be in Brisbane with family over the festive season which I'm looking forward to, having spent the last two Christmases on the road. Also anticipating my sister's family tradition of spending the week between Christmas and New Year on North Stradbroke Island. Fingers crossed for good weather and no fires.

Now that so surprising for you Mike:)

To be honest, much as I love seeing family, it sounds pretty good.

Have one family member who works for ESTA (000) and another is a cop. This is the first year for many, many years they will not be working Xmas day - we hope. A call-out is still on the cards for either should something go pear-shaped (bushfires or more traditional xmas-day family punch-ups than normal).

Ww have a park at the end of the court. I organise a Xmas drink in the park just prior to Xmas. Invite about 12 houses in the street another 6 who are also adjacent to the other end of the park. Ask all the people who I do the mail drop to invite any neighbours I may have missed. It's BYO everything. This will be #7. Great evening and just walk/waddle/stagger home.

Taking van back to Tamworth for the full family Christmas. Then a few days camping with great friends. Then bring the van home for a big clean out ready to trade on the new van we pin up in February. Merry Christmas everyone and safe travels to all.
