Anyone heading up to Marble Bar next Winter should go out and have a look at Corruna Downs WW2 secret airfield.You can have a drive down the two runways where the Liberator Bombers used to take off.

If the road is in good condition you can do it in a 2WD,but it pays to check,4WD is preferable. Some photos of the road out and of the runways and a bunker where the bombers hid covered with camouflage nets.
