Dometic Air Cons

Hi all, probably in wrong section but anyway I'm in this one needing some help. We have 2017 Sunliner Switch with a Dometic air con on roof, don't know which one but I don't think that's important. If we have the Motorhome on a slight lean on passenger side, water runs down off the roof, sometimes it will run off the back at side aswell, if we relevell, it doesn't run anywhere so where does it go, where we are staying now, another Sunliner Switch has the same thing happening, now is this normal?? I'm more worried as where it does come down the front passenger side it's right where the fridge vents are. Thanks in advance for all replies.

G'day DB

All aircons will discharge water to some degree - and that's why they [home ones too] have a discharge pipe which drips water onto the ground. In the case of the roof mounted aircon, it will discharge onto the roof - and the maker then hopes it will evaporate and fade away

We also have a Sunliner and always park it so that the shower drain hole is 'down' for that water to drain away, and so does anything on the roof. I would suggest that you park in such a way that there always is a small slope so that water - be it from the aircon or dew at night or rain itself always has a small slope to drain it away, and to prevent pooling and the associated water leaks that all vans suffer from at some time in their lifetime

ps: our dealer advised that the aircon maker only gives a 3-year warranty for the rubber seal between the aircon unit & the roof of the MH ... so be careful here as eventually it will leak water inside the vehicle

Hope this helps
Phil

My last two vans have roof mounted air conditioners of different brands and both discharges have run off the roof from the areas that are completely dependent on how the van is oriented horizontally.
I mentioned this fact to my current vans service department and there comments was...seeing that you have the front door model then slope the van slightly to the rear.
I found this an easy solution and have not let it concern me since...just slope the van to suit where you don't want the water to run off.
If you have a crappy roof that has a dished area then you will need to adjust how you achieve the best run off that does not interfere with your day to day living.
you will need to observe where the water will run off in the best location.

If it rains you get a lot more water on the roof than you'll get from your air conditioner, so I wouldn't panic about it.
